Tent Size Question: Height vs Square Feet?

More surface area is better than less. Height is important too but 6'8" is pretty good.

One issue with the 5x10 is that I have to put the portable a/c and dehumidifier inside the tent, and I'm not sure if I should avoid that. The 4x8 I can put all plants =18 vs 28 in a 5x10.

The room that contains the tent becomes your environment. Run an in line fan connected to an in line fan that exhaust outside the tent via a charcoal filter via the the reverse leg of an RH controller, as it controls your humidifier and when it gets to high, the controller will turn the inline fan to exhaust the excess humidity if there is any, or you can increase your exhaust by upping the speed of your exhaust fan. I use that feature for tweaking only if necessary. Control the temp of the room and tweak as necessary on both the AC unit or the main exhaust. Between lights on and lights off is when I tewak the exhaust fan, and I mean tweak. Short strokes, you are mother nature

I have a 7'11" tent and I have needed that extra height with over half of my grows.

On top, the exhaust and the lights eat up 1.5 - 2 ft and at the bottom I use a drain table with a flat bowl underneath to collect - another 6". Then there is the 10" height of the 5 gal pots putting the top of my media 16" from the floor. So, when you add it all up . . . about 36" of my height is gone leaving just around 5 ft for the plant to actually grow before it fries on the light. That means my real plant height tops out at around 4 ft.

So, how big do you want them to grow?
