I use a window AC down here they aren't too expensive. If you go that route buy a brand that bottoms out at 60F,most only go down to 65

So if you factor in I piped in the A/c for the room it came out of the vent about that cold 62-65.

At the height of the summer with Central A/C my bills ran $300-350, but I was living in high cotton with a lot of house.

That was the main environmental factor that I fought on a constant basis.....HEAT.

Thank you for the tips! I put a 1000w MH & it cooled the room down a lot so far. Well see how bad it gets mid summer

Depending on where you live, you may want to consider evaporative cooling. Lots of DIY on it.

If you know in advance that temperature is an issue consider your light source. I wouldn't use mh or hps if you know heat will be an issue. Consider LED. Less heat generation from light the easier your attempt to control climate. In the winter you can play with HPS/MH.

the penetration with led's r no where as good as with hps/mh... not a contest... but they do emit a lot less hear...

Wow I never really thought of that and do appreciate the info.,sometimes things that should be obvious are just not considered,at least in my case lol.I had to stop for awhile for personal reasons and have always flowered with 1K horties.I like large plants and will be starting up again soon.My upcoming decision was either to go with DE vertizontals type fixtures or LED's.Now I'm definitely leaning towards DE's even though I've been so surprised at the results from LED fixtures. Now that I think about it though these were mostly results from clones and vegging plants.I don't recall any finishing plants under LED's.Is there any kind of equivalency charts comparing DE HID's and LED's?Like a blank watt LED fixture has the same PAR watts and/or penetration power as a 1K HID?Sorry for the hijack bro lol I just didn't consider this until just now.I love this place

If you are worried about temperature, you might want to look into LED since you can get by running higher temps. I'm thinking of doing some DIY COBs, and trying to do very little to no cooling, by running the lights at night.

That is the $10,000 question. It is my opinion that you still need to maintain similar watts/square foot, to obtain similar results.

Just my 2 cents....I've used 1k HPS and LED.
Currently using LEDs, but if you want to pull weight and get penetration use DE.

Maybe pick up a LED to add a little something to your grow, but they can create heat too.
My flower tent can hit the mid 80's at times, but nowhere near the radiation off HPS.

Interesting thread... actually I wanted to know how hot is too hot, I have a temp control in my microgrow and it's set to turn off the system at 39C (85F for you crazy americanas).

But I'm not sure about the best climate for weed, this temp seems pretty tropical to me. What do you all think? Would you have the max temp in a microgrow lower or higher?
