Temporarily sectioning off a room

Hi again peoples, i'm thinking of sectioning off part of a room and am wondering what options i have for a temporary solution that doesn't damage the house in any way (renting). I would cut a hole for extractor fan to ceiling but that's as far as i want to go, as i can just put a louvre over the hole when done

Was thinking of getting a tent, but thats $500+ for a space with restricted height and no soundproofing. I'm thinking if i can build some sort of wall i could have 10' ceiling height (want to try vert) and also sound proof it some. But would rather not screw to the walls/floor/ceiling if i can avoid it (at this stage thinking i can't). Also don't know what i would do for a door. My current room is a 4x4 wooden framed, plastic wrapped tent basically, with a whole side being used as the door i get good access to my plants

I currently get no housing inspections. If i could guarantee i'll be getting none in future i would go nuts and repair any damage when i move, but landlords once did an inspection a couple of years back thinking we were involved in the production of meth (dodgy neighbours)

Anyone got any links to anything about this sort of thing? Tried googling it but didn't really come back with any good info

Space i want to section off is 11' x 4', but if i'm using a single small door i might have to bring that out to 11' x 6' to account for a walkway around the plants. Obviously for that space i'll need a decent extractor fan which i have no experience with noise levels etc so the sound proofing part is all about that. Don't want it sounding like i grow a ton of dope as soon as you walk in my house

Any suggestions?

Simple 2x4 or 2x2 framing and panda plastic will be sufficient. No need to modify the house.

Use foam window/door, strip insulation on the boards to block the light leaks between the boards and the ceiling/wall/floors.

Using angle brackets from the hardware store... you can quickly assemble/disassemble the framing. Place a board on the floor and have someone hold one on the ceiling. Tap your cut to fit board against the wall so it fits SNUG. Secure with angle brackets.

Tap your other vertical bracers in place and secure the same way. Make sure you support any ducting/etc that's 'through' the plastic... the wooden frame won't unless you use 2x4 and make it really strong.

Your local/online hydro store should have a light-proof tarp zipper you can install on the panda plastic and then slice the plastic open underneath it.

Honestly, a tent is well worth the money, especially in your situation. Can be quickly taken down, set up, moved, re-used, for the most part light proof, great for reflecting heat signatures back into itself, set up for ducting, cords, etc. screened passive intakes. Must I say more?

The drawback is the height issue. But thats also something that can be worked out in other ways.

Get yourself a fan speed controller, and use insulated ducting for noise reduction.
Mounting your fan on/with insulated materials will help reduce noise as well. They do also make mufflers. There are many things you can do to drastically reduce noise.

This is good advise. I would use 2x3's for the framing and, instead of panda film, use the cheapest panneling home depot has to offer. The panneling is very similar to "white board" material and is very handy used as such for making notes on the outside walls. Cost less than $15 per sheet, which is less than reflectix (by the square foot).

Reflectix on the inside, and insulation can be installed in the wall cavities for sound proofing. Doors are easily built using the drop from the panneling, a pianno hinge, and some 1x4.

If screws are used for the construction, it can be torn down with a quickness.

If going vert, stick to 8' ceilings rather then 10' ceilings...that's what DHF preaches over in the vert forum...what style of vert are you gonna do...sog octagon, donut, scrog?

I agree with Hydro soil, panda film and frames with a stick on zipper door and you're set.

I do it all the time, cheap easy, and quick. Works well too, I've had some up for going on three years now and they work great.

I did a 2x4 partition with pandafilm on it, and a rollup door using Velcro. I absolutely love it! So much better than what I had before, which was two 4x4 tents. Way more working room!

That's a great idea hydro soil!

Intotheunknown brings up a valid point also. I'm thinking with a hole cut in the ceiling for ventilation i can keep the main (bedroom) door closed without fear of it getting too hot. Which would also soundproof it some. Currently i vent from grow room to bedroom so it's breathing its own stale air, which can't be ideal and i have to leave the bedroom door open to avoid heat issues (and provide fresh air)

Decisions decisions. At this stage i think i will just go with a tent for now until i'm somewhere a bit more permanent. Been wanting to move for a while now and just don't think i can justify setting up a wall for just one or two grows. As for the vert thing i guess i could just do a mini-vert type thing, though i don't think i'd be getting the full benefit of that method

Cheers for the reply's. Definitely gonna go with that temporary wall next time..
