Temperature question

I'm asking this to prevent future problems. I know what the temp limits are for plants but I just wanna know how much will it affect the growth, quality and other factors, if my temps go over 30 Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) or even 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit)?

I'm asking this now cause I still can keep my cabinet door open cause they don't smell too much but when the smell gets noticable it is necessary for me to keep the door closed and then the temp go up, sometimes even 37 Celsius (over 98 Fahrenheit) and I'm afraid the plants will suffer from this kinda heat. I'm going to install an extra fan to blow the heat off from the 250W HPS but I'm not sure if it will lower the temps enough. Basically I just wanna know is can I get a good yield with temps between 30 and 35 Celsius?

Metabolic processes of cannabis come to a GRINDING halt at 95'F. Chlorophyll breaks down. The plant will die.
Between 86 and 95 or thereabouts, you'll see signs of heat stress- thin, cupped leaves, fluffy buds, and hermaphrodites. Mmm seeds. Just what ya need!
You can go up to just shy of 90'F safely if you're running CO2... if not, get a big assed exhaust going pronto and drop your temps down to the upper 70s.

Your plants go over 80 they will start to have a few problems 90 is max I would not let them get no where near that; growth, yield and stress will happen and flowering will be halted slowly with these temps, buds will dry out and leaves can get crispy and plants transpire quicker.

You need to get some kind of ventalation going; it's a must anyways for healthy plants.. when you are enclosed like your grow; if you are going to be using HPS you need to have a ventlation ssystem going to control the heat; your plants can't grow healthy in conditions like that.

How do you have your setup, do you have any pics?
You will need something to get the heat out of the space; and have the fan hooked up to a homemade carbon scrubber.

If you are going to grow; grow right and safely....
Smell is one thing you must control......

You can't get a good yield with those temps way to high; you will hermie your plants keeping temps like that and your plants will suffer badly.

You would have to have like a strain that is good to grow in high temp conditions and even then you would be in trouble, because most of the time it tends to be more on the sativa side which they grow huge and are best suited for outdoors if you do not have the space.

ok, I just wanted to know what would happen if I let the temps go up that high. MynameStitch, I do have ventilation and a carbon scrubber but they don't seem enough. 12V 120mm computer fans in the lowest corner (in) and in the highest corner (out) sucking the air through the carbon scrubber. I installed an additional fan to blow the heat from the lamp away. Haven't tried the new setup yet, but will today and tell you how it went tomorrow.

I don't have a need to keep the door closed yet, but when they start to smell too much, I'm gonna have to and I have to have this problem solved before that.

Thanks for the answers, I won't let the temps go up too high.

Hey,
It's not the best idea to set fan blowing at the lamp - the heat transfer from the lamp surface (~300 C) to the air in the cabinet will be seriously increased which is what certainly you don't want. The only way to fix the problem is to install more powerful exhaust blower.

Has anyone mentioned a cool tube. Depending on the size of your bulb you can practically make one on your own. Just get a coleman lantern glass cover...some ducting...a fan...presto you got yourself a cool tube. If you cannot find that get a round cylinder cake cooking glassware, or something similar. That way some of the heat not all of it is deferred out of your grow area. Keep in mind you still need intake and a regular exhaust.

I have a 250 in a space that should not be able to handle one, more in the 150 hps range. But with my cool tube and proper exhaust and intake temps rarely get above 78-79, with the exception of when a fan died. So everything and anything is possible.

Thanks for the tips guys.

The fan I installed under the lamp doesn't blow at the lamp, more like between the lamp and the top of the plant. But I suppose I could get rid of it if that's true what you Wolvern said. I'll test all kinds of things today when I get home. Maybe I can get the temps fall. I'll tell you tomorrow how's it going.
