Temp Question

Where I am growing now is in a part of my basement that isn't finished. I have. Central A/C and heat in the rest of the basement but not in that room. Well I've noticed the temp drop this past week. I used my laser temp gauge I leave there just to check plant leaf temps at the tops. They are 70°. That is like 6° less than before.
So do you think that is too cool to grow? I know some strains are from cool climates, but most these plants we grow have been bred so much maybe that strength isn't in them anymore? I'm pretty sure the temps will be like in the high 60's in there this winter. Is that too cold?

Hey Deke,

Is that with lights on or off? I’m using LED’s and my temps were running about 73 with lights on before I added the 2nd light. Up to about 80 adding the 2nd light. Lights off I’m running about 63-65.

I'd say that's a little on the cool side. I try to stay between 72 and 80. I had the same issue when I switched to LED. The result for me was lower yield. Once I got back up into the 70's, all other things being equal, back to good yields.

Dontcha just hate it when OP asks a Q and then abandons his own thread! Hope he sorted himself out!

What kind of cannabis do you want to grow?

I'm of the studied opinion, hot/humid grown cannabis has much more 'plant' content than cool/dry grown cannabis. I prefer to maximize the trichome density, along with terpene/cannabinoid production, while skipping the focus on plant production.

Hot/wet grows lots of weight, if that's your thing. ;)

That's why you start em hot and slowly raise your power bill. All relationships depend on compromise.
