Temp issues?

SWIM wants to have some plants started for the spring/summer so SWIM was thinking he would start in the attic. Under some older t8's. The problem is that the weather will be in the 30 most of the time, even dipping down to single digits at extreme times. The question is would the plants stay warm enough under the lights, maybe if there was one fixture on top and on either side? This would only be for vegging plants. Clones could be taken in ideal conditions

it all has to do with space of grow chamber, i would say if you confine the grow"box" to ur minimum dimensions required for optimum results a small airheater will do the job....

u understand what i mean?

I would say no

my grow is in an uninsulated part of my house, and I were to leave it alone at lights out it would drop well below freezing, that will kill you plants

DOG- its only for vegging so there will be no lights out EVER

Also this is just vegging in an attic so there is no need for a growbox. So you guys dont think it will be okay just under the light even though itll be on 24/7?

Those t8s will not warm your growbox up 30-40F. A 1000w would not even warm such cold areas up to where they need to be. Unless you want to run a couple heaters also, I would say it is a bad idea to try to grow in your attic.

If you keep the root zone warm they will be able to handle low temperatures better. Might be an idea to get a heating mat. Good luck

hes right--- how many you planning on vegging at once? more than 7-8 id go with 1000W with a heater/fan or maybe even two if they are smaller sized models. i saw some at target not too long ago actually...

it will be mostly sealed. Yeah if its not going to work ill just wait till march to start. the only reason this was a possibility was becuase there were lights lying around the house im not spending any mo' money. :joint:

yes outdoor

i think i might try to fit in a short veg and flower session from late march into june. Does anyone think that smell will be a problem with 4-6 plants in an attic no real exhaust or scrubber. The hatch is almost airtight and 30" of insulation and a ceiling should stop the smell from spreading downward right?

never grown in an attic, but if you didnt have air being sucked out i would imagine the smell would ceap down to the 2nd story sooner or later. but im not positive, never done it.
