Personaly i would not put a seed in such a small place to start its like.

i personaly like the 64pz dubble gulps. Requires like 1 wattering a week + i've herd more then once that a deeper container for the seeds inital growth can promote more females.

Give the cups a try you should see this last seed batch of mine, its killer.

just start with like 10 times the seeds u want for final number that way failed seeds , males , weak plants can be discarded.

That's kinda a high buffer zone don't you think? At worst start two times the amount of seeds you think you'll need, but 10?

You might want to soak the seeds for 24 hours in 1 3/4 teaspoon 3% hydrogen peroxide per quart of distilled water. You can get hydrogen peroxide at the drug store. I think it will kill any surface disease on the seed coat. I would plant into soilless mix like promix after the soak. Use distilled water when watering this almost sterile potting soil. If you want, you can add 2 teaspoons 3% hydrogen peroxide per gallon of the distilled water when watering the soil mix.

^^ sproutco offers good advice i think.... my understanding is its used in dwc to load the res with oxygen molecules and kill any algae etc so I think it would apply here

for me I use a paper towel, ro water or distilled. I layer about 4 - 6 sheets.. on a small plate .... dampen with water.. put seeds.... second layer paper towels... bit more damp... second plate.

add a 60 watt lamp if cool.. leave for 2 days.. take a peek ....once I have a tap root I transplant... more average light till 2nd set leaves

I asked before about how damp these other peats were... do you think that they hold more moisture? It seems temps are ok 'cos they sprout.. I wonder about moisture

or what about the trays and gear you are using.. might be worth sterilizing more than just the seeds

I hope jiffy haven't turned to the dark side like martha

thankx guys for all the advice. i don't wanna start 10 times the seeds when u pay for them so i will just try to plant them? i have 5 bagseeds now started both in martha and jiffy pellets. i will see if these sprout or not and then i will kno if its the seeds or not. also i will start some under a paper towel and try it that way too. so i don't waste my good seeds i will use bagseed for now

Make sure whatever you put them in, its sterile. Or as close to that as possible. I had problems with these dark gray, moth like flies in my soil (Pro-mix) on my first grow. I planted 5 germed seeds( I put the seeds in a shot glass of filtered boiled ( then cooled) water for 2 days, all five sprouted.) I put those germed seeds into the soil and all grew great. Then the problems started on my 2nd grow. I used the same soil, its hard to find good soil here. The moth-flys seemed harmless at first, they did not eat the plant. After every water I would find them on the walls of my cab. The second grow I did just as I had in the first. Shot glass of H2O, all five germed, then into the soil. 3 days later only one of the 5 popped out of the soil. I inspected the other 4 seeds and discovered tiny catapillar like suckers on the tiny emergeing roots. The roots were turning brown from exactly the the spot the catapillars were at, downward. My solution to the problem was to put my moist soil in a microwave oven for about 40 seconds on high. Its kind of a pain because my micro is not very big, and I have no oven. It worked, the next grow I got all five seeds to flower.
Good luck with your work
