Taking souvenirs home

I'm planning a trip to a - not yet determined - "weed-friendly" destination.
from time to time, I see threads from people flying to morocco, nepal, or elsewhere who return home with some nice flowers or resins.

so for those, who managed to do that: how did you get those souvenirs home safely?
