Taking grow equipment over the border?

Hola Ic :D

This next year I will be moving to Canada and am wondering how best to transfer my grow equipment. I have a complete 1kw setup right now but will most likely purchase the equipment for my 8kw setup before I leave. I will be doing this locally because I love my hydro shop, they have the best prices, I feel it's pretty safe.

If everything is 100% clean will I be able to cross the U.S. Canadian border?

Will they take my name down to look for or anything because of the grow equipment?

I won't have ANYTHING illegal in the car, and will be will mannered :D

If I do get searched though what will happen?

I'd feel pretty damn stressed goin over the border with $5k in equipment..

happy 420th post, on that note its nice to be loyal to your hydro shop, but use your common sense, anything you cant post to a safe address SELL before you go, or pay someone else to do it

I save alot of money and semi-know this place is safe by going to my local hydro store.
In Canada everything is more expensive so I'm assuming grow equipment is too..
If it's too risky though I guess I'll have to buy it here or ship it across the border..

How much of it will pass as aquarium supplies? Aquariums use lamps, reflectors, pumps, tubing, tubs, timers, UPS strips... I label all my boxes when I move. Books, music, bedding. All my Hydro gear is boxed under "aquarium." But, I'm not crossing borders.

With a 1k set up I think the aquarium thing might pass, but with 8k worth shit he'd have to be setting up sea world up there in canada.

8k- 8 hoods, 8 ballasts, big ass fans, ducting etc...this might be hard to move across the border, considering you'd need a truck basically just to carry the grow equipment.

I'd just bite the bullet and spend a few more $$ and buy it in canada, no need to draw attention to yourself before you even get started.

Or maybe your fav hydro shop will be willing to sell it to you over the phone after you move, maybe get it little by little and have it shipped to a UPS store or something so not to get so many deliveries to your new residence. Really the biggest price diference is usually on the hardware like lights, and fans soil and nute and shit like that could probly be purchased in canada easy enough for a decent price.

Seems like a no-brainer to box that stuff up and have a friend ship it to you when ur settled.

This seems pretty obvious to me. Is there something that I'm forgetting?

I would try to find a new shop in Canada anyways. Then when your ballasts blow out, you can go exchange them for a brand new one, instead of waiting for the repair from manufatorer.

I'm pretty sure you can get a discount at any hydro store if you are buying everything you need for a 8kw grow..

All that stuff isn't illegal, I think.., but it would probably raise a few flags if they did check it out.

selling it b4 you cross the boarder is the safest way.
i had a hard time transporting equipments from state to state
it just looks too obvious when someone see your set up.

if you had a trailor full of equipment i would say you could pass the boarder with no problems by saying its for a tomato/rose greenhouse, but since its only for a 8k room i would say send it in the mail...but by then youll prolly pay more for the shipping fee's and customs, than if you buy your stuff in canada.

i sent a dvd t6o someone in las vegas area, cost 18$ for shipping and customs in reg mail....

who ever said it was illegal to transpo. "my gardening equipment" as long as theres no evidence of pot paraphenalia, or pot,or zigzag in or anywhere near the transpo. vehicule.

I see a scenerio where the guard is suspisous, pull's your ass to the side. the dogs smell the chron. on the equipment. Now tour transport vehicule is getting torn apart.

I'd wash everything with bleach and triple make sure there is not even one trichcome in the truck. or rollie or ANYTHING

Personally taking new/used grow equipment across any border will send red flags dosent necessarily mean u get arrested but could cause holdups. If it were me I would just order of the net seems to be the cheapest compared to my local shops but if you really the love your shop see if they will ship your equipment to ur safe addy not where u plan on setting up just a thought

i would never try this, it's way too risky imo.

if they see the grow equipment i think they will do anything they can do to deny you access (looking at your records ect.) and if that fails they would be looking for you in 6 months. you're only allowed to stay there 6 months without permission to stay longer, and with that stuff i (and customs) automatically assume you will be living in canada illegally, selling weed, and living off that money.

Well.. Im probably not going to buy my equipment here. Just too big of a risk to bring it over.
BUT
What about my old setup?

All I will bring is 2 inline fans, DR 150 SJ tent, 1000W MH bulb ballast and SS2 hood.
Ducting, trays, and a few other random little things.
Think I can make it through fine with this amount?
I don't want to have to sell my current setup as I really like it..

I would put in storage for a month or 2 and cross the border and see how it goes then make a decision as to what you would do leave it or retrieve it. I have only been across that border once in and once out in tractor trailor so I am no help to you there. Is it easier in the day or at night? becarefull and stay safe signed Kava
