Taking cuts, beginner questions

How many cutting do you get off of an average mother and how often does she regenerate to take the next round? I know there are a lot of variables but I'm just wondering about the generalities. Also, how long can you keep taking cuts before needing to grow out a new mom? Thanks.

So variant but I will give you my outline/what has been working.

A mom from seed once sexed you should never ever take more than 60% of her for cuts. Less is better!

I rotate my mom out approx. at most 18 months at least 6 months

Always hunt for a new mom.

Always feed your moms.

Regeneration takes approx 2 weeks before you can think of cloning her again.

Keep your moms bottoms and insides clean and trim.

Always use clean tools.

I will update if I think of anything else. Tired and stoned at the moment. Lol

I had the same mom for close to 4 year, bonsai style ..she was kept under cfl lighting so she would grow at my pace, she could give me a few cuts every few weeks, even if I didn't need the cuts I would need to take them to keep her small.."
My buddy has a mom I gave him about 8 month ago and that thing is about 3ft tall and 3ft wide and you could easy take about 100 cuts from her . She has been kept under cfl and hps light so has grown faster.if you keep her under a hps light she will recover/grow faster .

moms tend to put out smaller clones after 6 months of working her.so I replace moms every 6 months..i like big fat stems and clones...soon I will not keep moms anymore..no need for me..just take a clone from each plant before going into flower....I have real high clone success rate and will have several copies of each mom in case one does die..running 2 strains now and several of each...wouldn't want to loose one..yeehaw

good info here SOC. some peeps have kept the same mom for many years. others take new moms all the time or don't keep moms like stoned-trout.

a mother in 5 gallon pot should give you a decent amount of clones every couple months ....whats she gets root bound put her in a 10 gal and flower her out
