You need the 6500K for veg for sure, as you can see 5000K misses an entire 1/2 of the photosynthesis spectrum. I do believe I saw a 7500K temp light on that sight...now that would be interesting to see.

that is the most incredible animated graphical representation i have ever seen......i am stealing it for sure.....yeah the key here is to get as close to 420nm and 660nm as possible....you'll notice that the peak for red light (660nm) is much much sharper than the peak for blue light (420nm).....because of the sharpness of red light's peak, it is important to choose an HPS bulb that is tuned towards the red rather than the orange or the useless yellow spectra.....now if they could tune an HID bulb to perfectly emit light at these two prescise wavelengths then we would really be in business.....I have heard there is a bulb called Solar NRG that really hits the 660nm right on the mark.....anyway, i like MH bulbs because the curves for photosynthesis and absorbance are more spread out.....so even though much of the light deviates from 420nm it is less of an issue because the plant will still absorb wavelengths slightly to the left and right of 420.....however, because HPS bulbs pump out more lumens per watt than MH bulbs, some people (Ed Rosenthal et al) still maintain that a 1000 watt HPS will produce more plant growth than a 1000 watt MH.....i know this is off topic, sorry....-kind regards, gp

I believe the HPS will provide more yield, if only because it is more akin to the Fall lighting that fruiting plants produce under. I wouldn't really expect a Summer blue light to have as much impact on the genetics as the red wavelength.

Everyone tends to think of light energy as just fuel, but plants 'use' light energy, it doesn't fuel them. So they respond to different stimuli and radiation. I have heard of people growing with red filters and blue filters to knock out all the inbetween radiation to just focus on the growth or fruiting. However, I personally have not gotten that far yet.

PR - yeah shitty day for sure! I just had a feeling something was going to go wrong. The weird thing is the setup was running for 10 days and nothing tripped. Nothing new was added so I am a little confused as to why the breaker blew. Nevertheless, I am going to install some 10/3 and upgrade to a 30A tomorrow just to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Purpleseed - Never did hear back from Botanicare on the LK issue. The 0.1% is the new lineup though. I have searched the local hydro stores around town and noone has any of the 20% left. Bummer...

As for poor Simon, I really wish I could help him (psychologically I mean) as he obviously suffers from low self-esteem and neglect as a child, however this was exactly what I pointed to earlier in the Æfiles. When a father fucks up his son (or maybe daughter...who knows) and is neglected by his mother he learns to look at everyone that is better or stronger or more intelligent as a direct reflection of his own failure as a human being. Thank you Dutchgrown...oddly I'm using DutchMasters today for the very first time!

Its a good thing.

Oh, and the second TAG Table VADER' is up and running. Even baptized me in the traditional TAG way, shooting me in the face while priming my FloJet SPrinkler pump... Bam! Right in the face... And I've given the blood sacrifice...so all is good for the Dark Side. lol

Since my little Anikan 'Skywalker' pod is about to be overrun by a much larger and more powerful Table I decided to keep with the theme and dub it Vader.

As an odd aside, this comforts me as before I have a really wonderful run of good luck and growth in my rig I usually have one day of massive shit that just compensates for my entire grow. It happend right before my Oasis run and my Widows. The others started smooth and something always ruined the yield. I've now grown superstitious and see auspicious signs all the time...like Dutchgrown here. Coincidence that I didn't get the Ionic and the hydro shop owner was super cool and talked me into the Dutchmasters series? I donno. So, with Simon coming in under the 12 pm deadline, I think it topped my negative karma scale so now I'll need shitloads of good karma to offset that attack. Just a wierd balancing thing I've noticed over the years.

Now I'm flying high.

yes i think you are right DG some (or all) of their products went through a reformulation.....i would stick with that 2 product penetrator foliar spray but i really don't know about the new reformulations.....all i know is that in the past DG has been nothing but problems but i really can't speak for the new DG formulas......maybe an e-mail to the company is in order.....-gp

I thought it interesting that the liquids are colored to match the bottle lids... Blue for Grow, Green for Potash plus, Red for Flowering....the liquid is crystal clear and smells like mint and fruit loops...very nice.

The odd thing is mixing it with my RO it was like 2800 ppms and Ph 4.3 (which they said to balance) which once I did...with a shitload of Ph up K, as the Potash Plus is an acid of about 4.8 as well, it bounced immediately up to 7.0.

So I tried to salvage with adding Ph down, but it hit cloudy and 3000 so I tossed and started again with Tap to see if there is a difference like Botanicare.
Using Tap it took a shit load of Ph down to hit the 5's...really strange.

However, once done it is sitting at 5.6 right now and 1800 ppms. I think for TAG I have been completely wrong about the nutrient levels...it would appear that because of the massive amount of nutrient uptake they are possible a higher ppms might be the trick to solving the K def and stalling. That batch that sat overnight in 2200 ppms looks great with the new growth and the red stems are lifting...hmmmm.. I am thinking all the original hype about nute burn in aero is bullshit and that it has been a K def all along as the roots are soaking in the nutrients nor are they in soil surrounded by high acid levels. Oxygen tends to balance acids and bases...I think we might find we can run TAG at like 3000 or so and they'll just go insane. I'm going to push mine a little this time to see what happens....nothing extreme as I need weed..lol. But interesting.

The guy at the hydro store raved about the Dutchmaster One series and told me has run his Tomatoes with no K def or issues of bud rot or Ca defs...so...we'll see.

The cool things are the smell, the color, the clarity and cost...they really did a nice job on that, but the overuse of Poser for their marketing materials are a bit sophomoric and make the company look a little green.

But according to Maximum yield mag and several articles this new mix is supposed to be the shit. So I will definitely keep you posted the grow..you'll see it here first! lol

You know JAT I should have mentioned that you can really do an amazing revival trick with frosted plastic cups and some mist. I don't know if you saw this, but I lost pump on my aerocloner and didn't notice for like a day as the other vegging clones had reached the water in the bottom, but the new Widows I had just gotten were not even 2" long in the treads and looked completely dead.






They actually went on to become my greatest producers oddly enough and I tried to kill them twice! no lie.

You just mist the inside of the cup and flip it over the clone for about 24 hours...I couldn't believe it took those crispy critters and made them whole again...the true testiment to the power of humidity.

So, letting it ride at 1500 for a couple days and see, if they can handle it I'm going up to 2200 again. The mix came out, per instructions, at like 2400 I think which just scared me a little so I didn't want to start that high. But the new growth shows no signs of issue and I'll be dropping the lamp down in a few days to the 40K range. Everybody is ready to party.

Now its time to smoke a nice fat bowl of this wicked ass sensi...this shit is like freakin' 70's sensi from maui or something, it really is an exceptional high for such ratty looking weed. I love the high its massive...and the buds are tiny. I could make this bitch a super star if I knew her genetics. Damn Bad Weed.

I think being a smaller pod I'll just run a shit load of zero veg sickle colas to see how they fair under my new attack strategy.

What I don't get is there are are like two additions that ramp up this supposedly already ramped up fertilizer...and they are all very low Ph.
