I have the New wave 4ft 8bulb unit and it rocks. But to me its a no brainer, They all have the same wattage and probably the same Lumen output. Get the Least exspensive. Good Luck here are a couple of pics of what I have grown under a T5.

Here is a related question...

I have been wondering if the T5 bulbs have an advantage over the ubiquitous CFL. Do T5's have better penetration, due to their smaller radius (higher intensity), than the fatter CFL?

CFL's are way way cheaper, but if the T5's provide a significant advantage in their light penetrating the canopy....might be worth the extra moulah.

I use to use enviro's and the t5 is a much better light IMO.

I've posted this numerous times but here is where to get a 6 bulb 4ft fixture.
kk-lite. com for 117 free shipping.
the bulbs are available online in a 5 pack of 3000k for around 45 including shipping. Throw in a locally bought 6500k for around 17 and thats 179.

thats 179 for a 6 bulb fixture complete. 324 watts.

Wow, you flowered those things under a T5? How was the harvest as compared to a HPS. They look really dense.

Hey Balance,

Damn! fine ladies ya got there! How 'bout divulging your gardens specifics? How many watts of T5 ya got goin? What temps do ya run? And How Big Are Those Girls?! Strain type?

Also, do you have any experience using CFL's, and if so, how do the T5's compare? If the T5's are superior, is it due to having better light penetration because the bulbs have a smaller radius and a more intense light?

Hi Hal,

Thanks for the compliments. Canna Bio Gen deluxe mix, four feet tall.
I had two 400 watt hps lights previously. Sealed, with a burner and lights, I couldnt grow in the summer with my undersized A/C. Ambient temps are a dream now, easily low 70's. I did notice slightly warmer canopy temps next to the bulbs, an oscilating fan aimed at the lights took care of this.
Only use T5 HO 54watt lamps and fixtures, they're the most output. Mine are two (4) Lamp fixtures. 54x4= 216 watts each. I much prefer them to Hids.
Yes, I think more lumen output equates to more penetration, comparable to my 400's. I have no experience with high wattage cfl's, sorry.
Besides, when weight is needed, why not scrog out an even canopy? Gonna try that next.
Things I don't miss now!
-6" Screaming Vortex
-Half my light bill! HiD=4Amps, T5=2Amps
-Half my A/C bill!
Hope that answers your Q's, peace.

Balances look nice but nowhere near as dense as D ROcks, I wonder if it's all genetics..T5 just haven't convinced me that the flowers will come out dense..I still use them only for veg or in combo with HPS
