If I need to light 8 2' t12 bulbs would they be fine if I wired them to a ballast for 4 4' t12 bulbs?

No man I'm pretty positive that isnt how that works,I've heard of overdriving flo ballasts but thats something I'm not familiar with and its different I think.I would want to match my ballasts and lamps the same way I would with HID fixtures. If I'm wrong sorry bout that I'd doublecheck before doing something like that though

I thought it would be fine because the voltage would be split from the leads so instead of 40w to one 4' bulb I would be getting 20w to two 2' bulbs.

I have overdriven bulbs before and I understood it as putting two 40w leads to one 40w bulb to 'overdrive' it at 80w. This idea wouldn't work in reverse though?
