Swollen calyx, male flower, or alien egg on my bud

Heyall!
This here is my beautiful girl Lauhing Buddha (barneys farm)
She's one month into flowering and got about one and half month to go.

I've noticed this strange kinda thing on two or three of my flowers: i have no idea what it is.
Been growing for some time now but have never seen this before.
It looks like a male flower, it doesnt have any resin on it, but there is still pistills coming out of it?

As far as i am able to see there is no bananas on the plant, but she's so damn big that i cannot really inspect the buds in the back closely enough.

Anyways, what's your guesses?

I got nannas last night, I'm heading into week 8 . I've been told and I've been reading that it's cool just to pluck them off and carry on like usual. I found 2 on one plant so not too bad, none popped up today.

You spend hundreds and thousands of hard-worked money to buy gear, lamps and fertilizer and end up with nannas..
This indoor growing thing doesnt feel right, almost like a tiger in a zoo... but i dont have much choice

Alot of the time if the plant is showing male flowers on well developed bud, then it's been stressed out. This can be anything from light leeks, nutrient issue (too cold/hot/strong/weak) or too long flowering. Either way she is trying to preserve her genes for the future. Just pull them off and carry on as normal. Even if one or two Nana's open you'll only get a few Immature seeds.
Don't stress as everything is a learning curve and these issues only serve as becoming a better gardener.

Do you think potency will be dramaticly decreased? can it become high grade (about 15%)?

1 out of 2 plants became hermie last grow too, and that 1 hermie smoked like shit, even smelled disgusting.

This raises a philosophical question -

what is a disgusting smell, for a group of people that often revere strains like Skunk and Cat Piss ?


Personally, I think disgusting would be bud that smells like those fake air "fresheners" they put in locker rooms these days.


If there's an immature but medium size seed at week 4, that means there was pollen somehow present around Week 2.

Yeah, lots of strains have a "bad" smell. I grew a few autoflowering indicas one summer and that strain in general smelled like rotting soil / mold. I hear the strain "headband" is also supposed to smell like rotten fish haha

Naa, but the last grow that hermied was a hindu kush. I've grown it twice before so i recognize how it is supposed to smell; kinda like sour smell. An that hermie smelled really strange.
