Switching lights back in last week of flower

Is switching the lights back from a 12/12 schedule to 18/6 during the last week of flower going to cause problems with the buds? My sitch: I grow using a n old PC tower to start the plants and then use a 2x2 tent to finish. I have/had a Jack Herer plant in the gutted, Mylared, PC tower growing in a solo cup under one bulbless LED looking severely pot bound and pretty bleak. I transplanted her into a 3 gallon cloth pot and switched my tent schedule back to 18/6. The tent was on 12/12 light schedule before because I have some Kush-Berry/Sweet Skunk in the tent all but finished.

But it has been a couple days and that Jack Herer I tried to save hasn't responded. Those Kush finishers seem to have liked going back to 18/6 as I have seen a little growth still. Buds appear fatter. They have just about stopped drinking though. But I wonder. Did switching back that light schedule to 18/6 during the last week of flower hurt the buds in the tent?

I also have another Jack Herer in a solo I think I better transplant before it dies, and put her in the tent her too. So, I don't think I can do that 24 hours of darkness before chop too this round. I'm pretty sure that's just old hippy lore but always did it anyway.

I wouldn’t say it’s definitively going to cause problems, but it’s likely to increase the chance of developing hermies. Some strains more than others depending on their tolerance.

I've seen entire trays of fully mature flowering plants start to re-veg after just a couple days of switching back to an 18/6 cycle. Going from a flowering to a vegetative cycle once your buds have formed is definitely going to upset the hormonal signaling inside the plants. The buds appearing fatter on your kush plants could be from new stem growth within the buds, causing them to expand and "open up" for lack of a better way to put it. I've seen it before and it's not good.

Exactly. The buds will "brake and break" with a burst of small roundish green leaves that open the calyx structure. Resin and terp production stop on a dime, and your buds will rapidly dry out visually and nasally.

Thanks. In dark period now but I'm going back the timer to 12/12 as soon as I get off the computer. I don't think I saved that Jack Herer anyway.

I just went back from 12/12 to 18-6. The switch back to veg was done in the first week of 12/12, at first sign of sex. I've done this a few times and never had problems with hermis. Guess if your into bloom more than 2 weeks it could be problematic. Clone that JH before its too late.
