switching light cycle mid flower

I'm not a new grower but this is a newish type of question. I've got some. C99BX1 a week into flower and my temps are higher than I'd like and I have my 600w digi set only at 400.

Lights on are from 6:30am to 6:30pm, I want to switch it to 6:30pm-6:30am so I can run it at night for lower temps.

Im not sure if switching them now will stress em to much and if not should I run 24 hours lights on or 24 hours lights off to switch it??

Its either that or just keep them at 400 but I'd rather not do that and temps are already high 80's even hitting 90 at times. Ventilation adjustment isn't an option.

Its either keep em as they are or switch to lights on at night and up em to 600.

It's possible to stress them but I gotta say I've done that very same thing before more than once and no noticeable issues came from it.

Thanks for the input...did you go with 24 hours of light or 24 hours of dark to get the cycle changed??

I've done both. Was running a flip flop at the time and sometimes plants would get swapped from one room to another due to space availability.

If you must change the light cycle, extra dark period is always better. Too much extra light would have a greater effect on the plants. Dark is what causes flowering, so extra dark is the way. Extra light could cause some amount of stress to extremely photoperiod sensitive plants.

i dont think it matters just so long as once a dark cycle is started it isnt interupted for 12 hours. even that wont be a big deal once in a while.but if minimal chance of impact is desired id go with extending the dark but i think extending the light wouldnt matter. ive often wondered what a 24on/12off cycle would do. or a 6on/12off. as long as you have 12 continuous dark hours its all good from what i understand. ill never do this experiment but i am curious. i bet sam the skunkman would know. im sure this has been done by someone.

it does matter because light destroys ethylene, so the more light the less ethylene builds up in the tissues... resulting in a vegging plant, less light means more ethylene and results in flowering.

though one day of extra light is likely going to have no effect with most plants... but to be safe either slowly change the light cycle making the lights come on/go off later and later over time or just have 24 hours or darkness.

Yeah man like infinitesimal said, one day isn't going to hurt your plants. Plants will stress to the point of hermaphrodism if there is an interruption to the light cycle over a period of time. A few days or more and it becomes more and more likely they'd throw nanners. A one time switch is probably stressful to some degree, but they won't miss a beat.
