Nah, I really like SurvivorMan. Too bad I don't have cable so I can't even watch the re-runs. His new show concept sounds pretty interesting also.

Man Vs. Wild is the best... Bear Grylls(?) rocks!

That show is kind of worked, you can tell cause he has a camara crew with him. Also you can tell a lot of the stuff is planted beforehand if you watch carefully. I remember one episode where Bear was going down a hole in a glacier and you could see a track of dirt through all the Glacier as he was going down which show's that they had already scaled it prior to him going down on it. The SurvivorMan dude is the real shit, he goes alone and with limited supplies.

holy hell
yea.. I still don't know what to think of all the cameras and shit... I dunno.. I try to forget about that and just enjoy the show, but I have also noticed some peculiarities..

I've only seen a partial episode of this. I really don't watch that much t.v. anyway. My kids however watch this guy all the time and I get to hear about some pretty stupid shit that they see him do.

Yeah, yeah, stupid is a matter of opinion and granted most of the things he probably does is definitely geared to inform someone how to survive but here's an interesting bit of footage facts from one particular episode I happened to glance at:

The guy was climbing a tree to get a few green coconuts so he could get something to drink. He couldn't drink the sea water.... fair enough. Notice I said 'green' coconuts.... those things will give you the shits like no other. But the most interesting thing I saw on that episode was a small tree lizard crawling across some rocks...... here's a newsflash.... that little bastard can't drink the salt water either. FOLLOW!!!!

That's just my 2 pennies. Of course no one really gives a shit about my opinion, and I'm not at all saying its a bad show. Its entertaining and of course if you actually were on an island and didn't see a lizard... well the shits will eventually subside.

So watch the show, eat, drink, and shit happily.... :joint:

Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching his show to and tune in to see the kind of shit he pulls out, like eating maggots from rotting carcases and eating raw fish. But I enjoy a lot more the survivorman dude cause that guy really does the shit for real and films it for all to see.

I saw one episode of the man vs wild show and thought it was pretty fake. He made a big deal out of supposedly being chased by a bear but funny how the cameras could keep up with him while he was being chased. If there were truely a grizzly in the area i dont think they would waste time filming while he was running away. Also he reaches a cliff with a waterfall and decides to dive in. He could have walked down but decided to dive into a pool of unknown depth? If it were truely a survival situation I dont think he would chance it.. After that he decides to ride the rapids rather then walk. If he hit a rock and shattered his leg and was truely alone he would be dead. I dont know he makes a big deal about being wet earlier in the show and then intentionally jumps into the river later on?

I know exactly what you are talking about Dan!! That episode was ridiculous. Talk about a quest for ratings. Why the hell would he jump into a river?? There was another episode where he was supposedly "stuck" in the water or something, well you could see his life jacket poking out under his clothes. And his backpack was floating all by itself. I don't like that show at all though. Survivorman for me.

Survivorman is awsome I watch that show whenever I get a chance, you really gotta have respect for someone who has that much knowledge of the wild and is getting back some of his primal insticts.

Bah.. you want to see a 'good one'? .. go rent Grizzly Man.. Werner Herzogs documentary of Timmy Treadwell who spent his summers hanging out with the bears until one day when a bear had to find out if he tasted like chicken.

man vs wild is more technical and hes trained, survivorman is more of the everyday hiker/backpacker. plus he does it all alone i bet the camera crew for bear is locked and loaded incase a bear actually does want a bite. both still cool to watch and take in a few tips.
