surface mold?

I've got 3 pink lotus seedlings sitting on the window sill, soon to go outside. I've noticed today what looks like mold on the soil surface. I'm not used to growing in soil and wasn't sure if I should be worried about it or not. They aren't being kept too moist, in fact I've only watered them the one time when I planted the seeds.

That's something alright. Check the soil and see if it contains mycorhizzea . Also how long ago was that watering? Also are there no holes in the bottoms of those? If not that'd be a problem

Thanks for the reply, there are holes, you just can't see them.I drilled about 6 holes in each cup. I'll check my soil

just scrape the top of the soil where the mold is and toss the effected soil out. and don't water so much.

Get a fan blowing on them. Not only will help to dry out the soil some, but will also strengthen those stems. Go ahead and prep them for the ODs.

How long have they been above the soil? Your roots will grow faster if you dry the soil out and make the roots search for water. Which in turn will allow your plant to grow quicker and should also eliminate the mold.

Thanks everyone, love how helpful people are on this site. They've been above ground for about 4 days now. I have started moving them out during the day and bringing them in at nigh. Already I can see a difference, stems are more sturdy and the soil is drying out quicker. Love Bodhi gear and can't wait to see what these week do outside. This will be my first outdoor grow using organics, always done indoor grows using chemical ferts. Should be fun....
