There is a new thread on the MythBuster's message boards urging the mythbusters to test out the myth about hydroponics increasing the strength of cannabis. I'm going to register and show some support. I understand that this myth isn't likely to be tested, but gather together and raise awareness, perhaps they will even mention this on the show.

Cheers and Happy Tokes!

It is getting some more attention on the MB forum. I would love to see some IC Mag'ers showing there support. We've been able to gather in numbers before and flood polls etc., why don't we stand behind this?

Let's make it the most popular thread on that forum.

although it would be cool as hell to see this on mythbusters.. cannabis cultivation is illegal, so i really don't think the government is going to let a tv show grow 60 clones..

Even though I would LOVE to see Jamie toking some chronic its not happening. This is show is filmed in America and I can bet my house that Discovery Channel would NEVER allow something like that to air. That thread is probably not going to last much anyways. Its probably going to be deleted anytime soon.

P.D. Although my type of chick is usually hippie/exotic type, Kari Byron is my platonic geek chick crush hehe.

Now thats what I call a myth, if it really grew better in water then thatswhere you'd find them in nature...maybe you get bigger yields and so but potency? naahhhh im not buying it, Adam and Jamie could solve this.

I know that it isn't likely, but I'm hoping that if enough people respond it will make something good happen. Wouldn't you love to see that thread hit 100 pages or something crazy like that. Then they couldn't delete it.

Besides, I doubt Adam and Jaime could learn enough in a short period of time to grow decent plants that would have any effect on busting or confirming the myth. One bad pheno and it could sway the results.

"increasing strength" made me think testing the plants sturdyness. then noticed the comment on increased potency. now both thoughts seem silly. who'd waste their time testing for sturdyness? & as for potency, isnt that determined by genetics alone?

above questions aside, couldn't the myth busters do a similar test on a different plant, like cucumbers. if memory is correct they contain THC along w/ a few other types of plants.

I'd say potency is determined by genetics...but some ways of growing can maximize the potential potency over others.

Well the OP said 60 clones of the same plant should be used, so the genetics would be the same. Grow them using hydro, soil, and outdoor and see if there's a difference in THC levels. Sounds like a legit test.

only plant that contains thc is marijuana. along with about 60 other compounds found only in the cannabis plant which is why theyre called cannabinoids.
