Supersoil BooBoo?

Well I just mixed up 15 cans of supersoil to subcools recipe, and realized I added hydrated lime instead of dolomite lime. I've never used hydrated lime before but I've read it can fuck up your plants if not used carefully, nor is it a substitute for dolomite lime. Is 3/4 cups hydrated lime per 12 cubic feet of soil going to screw me up? Can I still add dolomite to work as a pH buffer and magnesium supplement? :shucks:

It has to be aged for a couple months now. Just like you were going to have to do for the bone meal and blood meal. So in this case you didn't really make a mistake.

It will burn roots if you just mixed and used it right away. Those are the growers who fucked up their plants.

Thanks. The soil has always worked great after 30 days. I hope the hydrated lime mellows out enough by then. I know it leaches out of the soil relatively quickly too. You think I should still add dolomite?

I think you need to wait at least 60 days. It will then be a source of calcium and will not be a ph buffer. You will still have to add dolomite lime to have some soil ph buffering action.

I believe it still takes 3-4 weeks for hydrated lime to get used up. Also, the pH of hydrated lime is upwards of 8-10. I wonder if I can add dolomite to prevent the soil pH from rising too high. It would be cheaper for me to buy an RO system than make another batch of supersoil, and using RO would potentially prevent calcium toxicity of using both limes. I need the soil before 60 days as I timed making it so it would be ready at transplant time. Main thing is I need to know if having that much hydrated lime in the soil at 30 days is going to burn my babies. It really doesn't seem like much, but I hear a little goes a long way. If it is going to be problematic, then I either need to make another batch, or install RO (if thats even a solution). Making another batch would truly suck balls. goat balls.
