Super Skunk; 12/12 for 27 days

Well, these plants had a really rough start. It's my first grow, and despite all the research I did it was no replacement for experience, of which I had naught. That said, I think if the clones would not have had problems when I got them, things would have gone much better. Of course, I would not change the way things happened, as I now have a good understanding of various deficiencies, what an overwatered/underwatered plant looks like and how to recognize lockout due to the aforementioned ailments, as well as lockout due to pH. Also, I think I can recognize whether or not pH is too high or too low. I also learned how to tell when they are rootbound. Last but not least, I learned how to tell if the plants are too hot or too cold.

I've learned a lot, I think. :rasta:

Anyway, this is the "sick" thread for them. There are a bunch of pictures to look at, and for those who care, a lot of conversation about various plant ailments, their causes and cures.

This is what they look like with 27 days at 12/12. I am having some Ca and possibly Mg deficiencies, but otherwise they look alright to me.

If you squeeze any of the buds they feel quite solid, so I'm hoping that it's still a decent harvest, though they don't appear to have grown any at all over the past few days.

These pictures are directly after a feeding.

By the way, any guesstimates on yield?

Without further ado, bud porn!

your first grow looks better than my first few,LOL but i didnt have icmag either.
i'd say you would have enought to smoke till your next harvest is done if you have some veggin or have some more clones going . better get the perpetual thing going now cause from my experience , the more weed i have , the more weed i smoke

Thanks for the compliments!

I do have some plants coming up, as well as access to new clones. I have two Super Silver Haze beans that just popped out of their Jiffy pots yesterday. One is growing quite fast, already at an inch tall and its cotyledons and first true leaves are looking really good. The other is a bit behind it's sister (I hope) but I had to help it out of its shell as I don't think it would have ever popped on its own.

I'm in a location that I can veg these two from seed outside in the sun for the next month (or longer) until I harvest the two Super Skunk, so as soon as I pull them out of the cabinet the two SSH are going in. If they both turn out to be males then I can get some clones right away and still be doing great. I may do that anyway, because vegging outside in the sun is hard to beat.

I'll post more pics of the Skunks after about a week.

I harvested the smaller of the two plants a couple of days ago. The buds were pulling all the stems down horizontal and I wanted to compare an early harvest with a later one. It was maybe 50/50 clear/cloudy.

These pictures are only the buds that were big enough to hang. I'll trim more of the lower branches next time. If you squeeze the larger ones they are really solid.

They probably have another 5 days to hang there before I start curing them. I have no clue what weight was wet. I can't wait to manicure them.

The one that is still alive is about 50/50 cloudy/clear with a few random amber trichs here and there. It's starting to pull its branches down too, and its stems are quite a bit thicker than the other.

Those are looking great!!----and I bet the closet is smelling good too!! Where's the SS from?? I 've been growing WF's SS for over a year now and it grows very much like yours and the bud weight always takes over the stem strength and I always get 2-3 1/2 per plant in 60ish days with the plants rarely ever reaching 30" tall. It is still my favorite smoke too; so sweet and heady. There is nothing "skunky" about this strain anymore, once cured.<----I always loved the 'fresh-road-kill' from the past.......
One thing I 've really noticed with WF's SS is that when you think it's done give it another week and seems to grow buds on top of the buds adding another 20%(my guess). I grow an F-1 NL(going on 7 yrs) that always shows to be 4-5oz per plant(90-110days) and usually 4 1/2'-5' tall, an original BC Bud strain(from The U of W) as well as some newer one's(MoonFlower, NorthernBerry) and the SS is by far the winner in my book!

Great Harvests to you! Be safe!

Nice training you have done with those and you got them well recovered, under how many watts were these plants & Could tell a bit about the smoke? imo if you study well the first couple grows are the most important when you learn the most, after it's quite an ease to grow with occasianal "educational drawbacks".

I wish I could have let them veg a bit longer. They are really short and I still had a couple of extra feet of room for them to grow. Oh well, I was getting impatient after working with them for 2 months in veg. :D

They were under a 400w CMH. The smell is becoming more and more fruity as the second plant continues to flower. Uncured, but dried buds from the first plant smoke well, but not nearly as potent as I was hoping. It's possible that the potency isn't there because they were taken pretty early, but I rather think it is more due to a lot of stress. Despite this, there is no ceiling to how high you can get, you just gotta smoke a bit more to get there. It is very zoomy, but no anxiety or paranoia etc.

I'm hoping once I get a few weeks of cure into them that they will become more potent.

I'll keep this updated with how the second plant turns out.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. :rasta:

They aren't the most dense of buds I've tried, but some of the buds from the top of the plant are not bad at all. I don't think SS is really known for ultradense buds anyway.

I probably won't be able to give a smoke report on the second plant. I need to abstain to try and get a new job.

The second one is about 5% amber now, so I expect she's got at least another 10-14 days left.

By the way the RadioShack 60x-100x handheld microscope really is perfect for looking at trichomes!
