Super Silver Haze...Yet Another Smoke report - Mr. Nice Seeds

Finally.....

only One Mom out of a seedpack, mostly due to operator error....

Computer full, so no new photos can be introduced, wahhh... Will remedy that soon.

For now, A preliminary report:

Grown in Ebb n' Grow bucket system, with Hydroton... Finished in 62 days, but in Pro-Mix container mix, it is still going at 66 days, with at least 2 weeks to go. I cannot explain this. But, it was finished in the hydro system... I have heard tell that one week or so can be shaved off with a recirculating system, but I believe the 0-50-30 Beastie Blooms at reasonable concentrations, in the recirculating system made something supernatural happen.... lol...

GH three part program at lower levels than prescribed, plus Fox Farm Soluble Beastie Blooms at 1/4 tsp/gal... Plus, several other nice additives (i.e. cannazyme or aquashield, occasional Super thrive), with a good few different sweeteners used at different times (nitrozyme, Sweet, or carboload), based on what they needed at that juncture. All at lower than prescribed amounts.

Dry for only a few days, no real cure yet, just getting crispy, after two paper bags, and a jar in between.

Pheno: as far as I can tell, based on others experiences here, this is a primarilty Sativa pheno, which can be inducecd to finish fast, but wants 11-12 weeks. Soil cultivation or Outdoors maydiffer, I do not know about this pheno, as it is my first run with it.

Yield: Very Good

Flavour: Sativa taste with a sour - minty hit - and not fruity.

Buzz: No Ceiling sort. In that each hit gets one high, but there is a seeming limit in the top of the buzz, like most pot. Still, each hit is felt nicely..

Bag Appeal: Moderate, in that NorCal people are more into Indicas, and are unfamiliar with the long-running sort of buds that a primarily Satty strain/pheno puts out... Once they try it, though.... Once it cures, it will look more excellent. The crystals are there, for sure.... The SILVER will show... lolol...

odour: Same as taste. Fresh, minty, Sativa. The leaves need to be trimmed out, as they do impart a sort of grassy smell/taste. The nugs have none or very little of that smell.. A good cure will be fantastic, I can tell.

Light Requirements: Very High, otherwise it does not fill in as it can.....

Nute requirements: standard for a Sativa pheno, was sensitive to N, and prefered to not have much of it, but did not curl... Only end of leaf margins showed the story.... Loved P and K. Nice and juicy. Calyx upon Calyx...

Grower Bias: Definitely in Effect, lol.... It was a yearlong project, starting from getting a seedpack that was not easy to obtain, at the time.
Hard not to feel proprietary about such things/endeavors, as anyone who starts a seedpack, discerns good phenos, and grows 'em out knows keenly.

Pics to come, after I get more data storage for all the music I have, lol. Cannot download more photos until i do.

Good on y'all.....

I grew Mr Nice SSH outdoors in NorCal last season, and it performed well. I got two different phenotypes. One more Indica/Sativa hybrid looking, and one predominately Sativa. From what you described, we have a similar sativa phenotype. As far as performance outdoors, it needs to go until the end of October or longer. Unfortunately I had to cut mine the 3rd week of october due to early frost. It wanted another two weeks to completely fill in, however, it was stil amazing. Great fresh sweet sativa smell/taste and literally caked with resin, very sparkling silver/green colored buds. A decent yielder, would have been better with another 2-3 weeks. I recommend it to all sativa lovers!
Cant wait to see the pics stasis!

Yes, absolutely covered in frost. More than any sativa I ever saw...... You confirmed my suspicions, that outdoor, the onset of the "wet" would beat the finishing of the SSH. Usually, that occurs here at the first week of Oct... Give or take a couple days. Even in a greenie, the humidity factor is enuf to ruin dense buds. This pheno would form top to bottom nugs in the sun. I may move to a more inland area, and try a baby of this Out in the open.

Thanks for reading..>!!!

Man oh Man do I miss my SSH clone. I found it myself out of a pack of Mr. Nice version back in 2002. Next chance I can find i'm definitely planning to acquire it again.

My pheno cut was more of a really strong lemony flavor on inhale, you know that feeling you get the second you bite into a red pepper, that followed by crazy lemony goodness. Very uplifting energetic sativa with that slight indica kick that keeps your body relaxed. and it was unique as you could trip your face off if you're relaxing or go do some errands and just be really euphoric.

man im drooling missing her :( I stopped growing for a while and had to get rid of my moms. My premier grow is going on now. Should be set for a long while, gonna test different cuts hopefully find some great moms.

Anyway dude, hope you enjoy the efforts of your year long endeavor.

Peace,

~WM

I recently cut an SSH that had the sickest superglue, hairspray, solvent smell. It had really good resin on it, but that funky aroma and taste just weren't my cup of tea. Interestingly I had a similar experience with a Mothers Finest F2.

Thanks for the report Stasis.

Beautiful report mate! My ssh (unknown origen) cut is one of my best smokes. She´s very uplifting, clear and euphoric but with a very little body relaxation too. One of my bests for sure:joint:.

I've got 3 fine ladies here, Wonder Haze (SSHxWW), 7 1/2 weeks in flower now. Obviously they need at least 2 weeks more- here's the thing, those damn little spider mites have shown up, just on few leaves so far. I don't want to spray the buds with anything, but the weather is warming up and they are gonna spread faster. Shit, it's race between ripening buds and the spider mites. I wanna get a taste'o that haze! wish me luck! Thanks for all the SSH posts, these plants are beautiful.

I am enjoying a 2 hour wake bake on the cured buds.... Some are hard and sticky like an indica bud. But no mistaking the Sativa taste and structure of the crystal nodules.... Some Foxtailing.... I cannot even imagine a better - more complete buzz..... It is a semi-hard-hitting, mostly head - some body - NO anxiety/paranoia -

The flavour is Hazy, but complex - with other hints.... Mint, Lemon, Dank.....

SOMEHOW: Mellow, Clear AND Creativity-producing, simultaneously. Makes ya wanna grab the Guitar. Music sounds better on the SSH, lol.....

The ONLY mom we were able to retain out of a whole seed pack (mostly due to user error)....

And what we got was awesome.

It really needs the most light/LUMENS possible to really develop. Deffo a challenge with a tallish breed like this.

But, the BUZZ-------> JUST RIGHT - like nothing else I have ever had....

At first ( and throughout ) I was filled with trepidation, as I find Sativas to be not practical to grow more than a couple at a time. But, the yield surprised me. The HEAVY crystal action on the nugs also....

This is a truly SUPER sativa....

I cannot explain the thang that made the RECIRCULATING-system-SSH plants finish in 63 days, while the container-SSH plants - in soiless Pro-Mix HP are still "Cooking," at 76....! About to get flushed now..... lol...

Obviously, the Ebb n Grow system shaves off a few days over hand pouring, but this is uncanny...! Same nutes, etc....

My guess is that the PK Booster ( Fox Farm-Beastie Bloomz - along with the GH regimen and sweeteners ) used at higher concentrations in the recirculating-system-SSH's caused them to morph into faster-finishing plants.... The Container-SSH's are doing mostly the same thing, in the Calyxing up/ ripening of the trichs.... Bigger Buds, too, with the extra time... All filled out, and getting solid... Except for one of the larger plants, which did not receive quite enough light at some crucial time or another - so it is a bit "larfy..." I think one bulb was old.

Now, I wonder if the new NL/Haze will be great too. Just the thought of that great strain in the hands of these fine Gents....

THX SHANTI (et al)...

Rotsa Ruck, Y'all...>!!
