Super silent loft system help please...

Hello all...

Wondering if you can help me out with some ideas...

I have access to a loft and have spent ages sound proofing it to the best of my abilities....floor on top of existing floor, kingspan inbetween new 3 x 2 joists, tongue and groove flooring over the top, 3 layers of 11mm underlay...sides have 3 x 2 uprights in, kingspan inbetween timbers, 12.5mm plasterboard over the top and roof has more 50mm kingspan in with plasterboard over the top.

The grow area is partioned off using 3 x 2 timbers with plasterboard each side and a solid door which locks into place and is air tight...

The grow area size is 2.5 long x 2.4 wide x 2.5 up to the apex and the sides are 1m high where it meets the roof if you know what I mean...

There is a 10" 1m long rhino filter hanging right up at the top of the roof apex on strapping of which goes to the 3500m3 (running at 85 volts using variac) out fan and the 6" TD silent in fan (running at 110 volts using variac). A desk fan fixed to the wall with the in fan duct behind it so it boosts the cooled air directly in. Next to the in duct fixed to the wall will be a 1kw fan heater with its own room stat so when the temp drops below 15 degrees it will come on and the continuously on desk fan will push the warm air into the canopy. The out fan will be allway on at 85 volts. The in fan will have another stat on it and when the temp drops below 20 degrees will change from 110V to 85 volts...Here in the UK we are on 240 volts

The above is my noise threshold...this can not be heard at all from the rooms below.

Today I borrowed 4 x 600W MH's from a mate and hung them vertically (its a vert setup)

Using my remote sensor I was getting the temp to my phone every 10mins and within 1.5 hours it was 40 degrees!!! The sensor was about a foot away from one of the bare 600W metal halides.

I was hoping to run 4 x 600s in there but it dosent look like its going to be possible...

So I put 4 x MH 400s in there (will use HPS during flower or a mixture) and its now been 2.5 hours and its holding at a steady 25 degrees (the sensor is under a foot away from one of the tubes). I have the ballasts in the room also so when i screw them up outside the partition this should make it drop by a couple of degrees and reskon I can get 5 x 400 verts in there...

When the weather gets warmer I am going to be screwed but will cross that bridge when I come to it..

There will be a frame down the sides with strings and yoyos on..the back of the frame will have mylar glued to hardboard hung on hooks so I can get down the sides, unhook them and train/tie the plants if need be

I am thinking 16 plants with 8 per side...

I was going to go for 2 x 901 (2.1m) NFT tables side by side with the lights hung in the middle with 1" cubes dropped straight in through slits using lightproof plastic (black one side white the other so white side up) and have the NFT pumps running continuously. The 2 901 tables were going to be joined together using 1" pipe and have a float valve coming from a 100L res on the other side of the partition wall going into one of the 901 tanks (both will stay at same level as joined together)

The above seems like a good plan although the two main downfalls are the noise from the pumps of which will be one per table (I know these can be quietened down but its still noise) and there isnt a central control point when adjust ph, flushing, adding nutes etc.

So I am now thinking of going down the lines of a dripper system that will only need to come on 2 - 4 times a day for 15mins at a time or so? this will have to be designed using pumps so that it waters them then pulls everything back to the main reservoir each time all at once.

So possibly 2 x 2m trays (as low as possible) with 15L pots x 8 per tray containing pebbles, a shallow but wide container underneath and at the end containing a maxijet 1000 pump and the 100L reservoir outside containing another maxijet 1000 pump...both pumps will come on at the same time for a no of minutes...the pump in the main reservoir will use drippers to water each pot then any excess water that comes through will collect underneath it and be pumped back to the main reservoir.

Has anyone any ideas on this? I dont want to go down the route of something like an IWS flood and drain kit as I would rather use trays etc...

Thanks

Iffy

Hi Sisterzane.
Check out my loftie. I got an 8' x 3' gravity hydro table with 14 x 6.5L pots. Hydroton, constant feed via drippers & re-circ to 100L res.
Stay safe
