super quiet fan

I have a 4 inch Active-Air inline fan and it makes too much noise even with the fan speed controller turned down.

Have been looking at the S&P TD 100 4 inch inline fan. I use my fan open on one end and then into the duct work to exhaust. Not with ducting on each end, but the S&P looks different like it is made to have something attached to each end. It is listed as being very silent so there is that.

Anyone have advice or experience of this fan. I do not want to build anything like a box of foam around a fan or do that stuff btw.

I used a bathroom fan before for a closet grow.

This Broan Fan is the exact one I had back then and it's a 1.0 sone. You can't hear it from another room.
But in the same room it's borderline annoying. I have to say the Utilitech at the bottom of this post looks
a whole lot better being a 0.3 sone fan.

Broan AER110C Energy Star 110 CFM Ventilation Fan

sones = noise level or less sones = more ninja stealth

So according to Wiki the fan I link below is very quiet.

Sone

More $$$ = less sone or higher quality in terms of stealth.

I would bet the fan your looking at yesum is nowhere near this quiet.

Utilitech 0.3 Sones 150 CFM White Bathroom Fan ENERGY STAR

I was reading that you require a Fan size (CFM) = (Volume of Active Growing Space) x 1.33.

I think for a 4 X 4 X 6.5' tent it's perfect. That having a cubic feet volume of 104 ft X 1.33 = 138.32 cfm fan required.

I was going to get a 315 cfm typical fan sold by grow stores. But I bet that's overkill
and no doubt much louder than I would like after seeing numerous videos on YouTube.

I'm also looking for ultra quiet more than anything else.

I may buy a different fan eventually but I am looking at this one for a possible backup.

This is the professional grow fan I'm really looking at now though.

Hyper Fan Stealth 6 in 315 CFM

Hope I didn't hijack your thread.

I have used the older TD 100 and it was pretty quiet.

But the last one I used was the Silent Series Inline TD 100 XS, and even at the 200 CFM setting was quiet, not noiseless, but quiet enough that with door shut, no one could tell there was fan running there 24/7

You can take the extra plastic off as you see of the 3 fans in pic, the lower pic has extra plastic removed.

So I finally wired this bad boy and ran it on low. It is maybe half the noise of the Active Air fan which is 165 cfm but on a speed controller set to lowest. Might be less than half.

The low on the TD-100XS is 108 cfm. Very pleased with the noise level. Due to things right now, I may save this for when my other fan dies. I have no security type fears at this time but that could change.

The cord I got was international and I almost wired it wrong. Different colors on the wires so beware. Brown hot blue neutral and yellow with green stripe ground. There is no ground on this fan and the salesman I emailed said to get a grounded one if I could.

Talked to another guy later at hvacquick and he realized there was no ground. Confusing but did not fry the motor and like I said, this thing is damn quiet.
