super cropping to increase yield??

Try topping it once or twice before you pinch or attempt the supercrop. It will work better. I don't do it much anymore but when I do I top a couple times then snap the outside wall in the outward direction. The branches then grow out with the lower nodes growing up

some plants hate to be topped. you can ruin your entire yield if you top the wrong plants.

IMO sc is the way to go with cannabis, you have the same benefits than topping without make a single cut, and the plant grows stronger with SC.

it's just a training technique, it's not magical, it works for some grows and not others, and some strains like it more and some less...just like every other training technique... somehow you get stoners involved and every ridiculous claim under the sun comes to light, do you think corn growers ever tried ramming nails through the stems or injecting corn syrup? or claiming that if they took the third leaf from every stalk it would make the corn taste better? i have heard too many half baked theories about this plant to count, let alone remember, to the point that even everyday training techniques like topping and bending are being attributed with benefits that they could never be bestowing upon your garden.

yeild is based largely on the size of the plant, and it's rootball, just getting more yield per plant by supercropping and vegging longer is not the same as yielding more overall...once you figure in all the time it takes to veg a large supercropped bush you could get almost two clone runs in without vegging at all...

there are a million different ways to grow but generally yield is based on genetics, vigorous strains produce more node sites in a given amount of time compared to less vigorous plants, and consequently, they produce bigger root systems capable of supporting bigger buds...now you pack them in as tight as you can and you will be largely there as far as maxing yields goes....this is regardless to grow style, as lst or suppercropping or both can be used to produce bushes large or small, the part that will matter is how many of these supercropped plants you are squeezing under your lights, the smaller the plant the more you need to pack in there to achieve the same yeild, but smaller plants take less time to veg...

in the end you find that given the same plant in the same conditions, you can yield just as much by packing in tons of clones with no veg, or many many smaller bushes, or a few supercropped plants, as long as the amount of nodes and tops are similar yield should be more or less similar, imo supercropping just means you need to have a big veg room with production plants being vegged and trained for months...when in most cases you can yeild just as much by using more plants packed in tighter... with less veg time, meaning you don't need as big a veg room, for strict clone sogs, you only need enough to keep the mom's alive, since no vegging in necessary.

if one style were clearly better than the others everybody would be doing it, but every grow is a different size and shape with different lights and ventilation, different pots, and most of all different growers... i have found that it's much simpler to lst 10-12 bushes for a month before flowering than my old way, which was to take 150 clones, and select the 100 best, on that scale cloning can be a real pain, so i gave it up, but in my old smaller grow it was imo the simplest method. similarly i could spend 3 months supercropping one plant to fill my whole tent but i seriously doubt it would yield as much as 12 smaller plants in the same area with a 3rd the veg time or 80 to 100 clones with no veg time at all.

You can do 5 years in federal prison for your 100 clone/light grow style. Most ppl would do it the way you describe but plant count would end you with a life sentance

Oh and taking 150 clones takes about 2.5 hours start to finish. You must be overwhelmed in your bigger grow now

When I pinch I spin my fingers as i apply pressure then bent the branch in the direction I want it to lean...

Seems to me this technique works well and forms one hell a thick main stem...

You can also pinch and bend upwards...lol

If I'm not mistaken, super cropping is a generic term for many different methods of altering the normal growth pattern, such as using a screen of green method, breaking branches, lolly popping etc.

Super cropping is just pinching branches. It is used to control vertical growth and promote secondary shoot growth.

It is like SCROG in that it is a training method used to get even horizontal canopies and is often used in training branches to fill a screen.

"Lolly popping" is just pruning lower branches that are unlikely to produce well because of they would not receive sufficient light.

The terms mean little when you understand the concept. It is all just promoting and directing growth.

any kind of canopy management in an indoor garden will increase yield - if it is done well.

I find it useful when growing many different varieties in one tent. You can control/retard the vertical growth of leggier plants letting shorter ones catch up or stay within range. Not all plants seem to respond the same way; some just take it and keep on going the next day. With a careful touch the severity of the crushing can also be used as a tool itself to dictate the time it takes to get back to growing taller.

G`day DC

Here`s a term for you to feed into the google machine : Apical Dominance ...
To use Super Cropping to best effect some understanding of plant hormones goes a long way .
The uppermost part of the plant supresses the growth of the lower limbs . So changing what part of the plant is upper most can have a huge determination of the growth pattern of that part . Manipulation allows many different parts of the plant to gain the advantages of Apical Dominance .

PS
Its good to have opinions . Expressing them with an obnoxious delivery usually means people tune out .

Thanks for sharin

I know this is slightly off topic, I have read about a technique called Lollipoping but I can't seem to find a description of what exactly it is, and how to do it. I gather it's some form of defoliation, often used in conjunction with super cropping.

removing the lower branches so the overall structure resembles a lolipop

i take the lower branches and use them as cuttings or jsut compost them
i find lolipopping makes it easier to water and allows for better air circulation

Do you cut them off right near the stem?
When is it too late in flower to do it?

yes, i cut them right where they meet the stem

i try and do it a week or so before i flip
im trying to channel all the plants juices towards the top

i dont think it would hurt to do this later, and often prune small or weak looking branches in the undercanopy

I've super cropped a TON in the last decade. It's proved to be a very beneficial technique in producing high yeilds and potent buds. I've found a GREAT TOOL to help me avoid severely breaking stems and help eliminate the struggle of super cropping thick stems. I got it at weedtheway.com. I HIGHly recommend it if you need help with super cropping escpecially when you have many plants to work with :groupwave:

I just drop things on plants that is my way of supercropping works wonders

supercrop, is a clone taken from a flowering female.:tiphat:

Na that is monster crop some monster cropped plants naturally grown 4 weeks veg from clones re verting back to veg
