hey everyone

this has probably been ask a 1000 time but i cant get a straight answer any where on here or goggle. so i thought i would pop the question here what is the proper Ph for sunshine mix or pro mix ?

OK so a am growing in sunshine mix #4 and i am have issue with my Ph. i am reading different articles and they are saying basically hydro 5.7 to 6 and soil 6.4 to 6.7 now do i treat the soil less mix like hydro or like soil

cant get a straight answer anywhere optimum Ph for sunshine mix or pro mix i would think by now that some one would know as these mixes have been out for years

thanks in advance:tiphat:

6.0 to 6.3....

what i have done this round which i find works good(but i do have compost amended and ewc), i added dolo lime to get the promix ph to 6.5-7...(roughly 2 handfuls per bale) and now i water at 6.0-6.1, then as the soil dries the ph will rise, i guess its the same "swing effect" you want to get in hydro...

i did this because i find over a short period of time the peat tends to degrade and lower soil ph...and i found the answer why; the black bales ofpromix use grade A peat, where as the while bales of promix uses grade C peat...the difference is grade A is a much better quality, will get water logged much less than grade C, and decomposes alot slower, making for a better product..

dont ask me why in my area they only sell white bags of promix but that is my guess as to why i had phproblems the last couple of runs...
