Sunlight intensity, morning or afternoon?

Just looking for other OD growers observations or insights..

Suppose you have a natural clearing in the woods for your grow, but the trees are going to filter or block direct sunlight to your plants either in the morning or the aftrenoon..

Assuming only a few plants can be midway, east to west, between the trees, would you place the rest of your plants on the west side of the clearing (where they get direct morning sunlight, and late afternoon is filtered) or on the east side of the clearing (where the morning light is filtered and the afternoon sun is direct)?

In other words, would you prefer more morning and mid-day direct sunshine (which is cooler temperatures) OR more mid-day and afternoon direct sunshine (which is hotter temperature)?

i'd go with the west side (direct morning sunlight) most likely

they'll be nice and dry early, to prevent mold, and still get patches of sun in the cooler afternoons.

Sounds like a plan

Ever have mold issues in the past in flowering outdoors? :ying:

Luckily, I haven't had mold issues where I live....at any time during the growing season..

All my gardens are built around the afternoon sunlight. I feel it is stronger. I think it is easier to get a sunburn working late afternoon than early morniń. At least my tan line thinks so. But just my observation.

The key to successful production lies n the combined hrs of sunlight and (some) protection during the hottest part of the day... Cannabis plants will grow in either morning (or) afternoon sun, but often benefit from a combination of the two... Growing on the eastern side, provided morning light is unrestricted, is a workable solution for those who live in areas that receive intense afternoon heat... Morning light provides high intensity light to your plants without the excessive heat of the noonday sun... In locations where the mercury soars in the afternoon, providing your plants with several hrs of morning light and sheltering them during the hottest part of the day is desirable... If your plants receive less then 8 hrs of morning light, they will need additional afternoon sun to promote healthy growth... During the hottest part of the day, typically between 12 noon and 2 pm, the suns rays maybe to intense for your plants, depending on your location... During this period, some shade is desired to reduce stress to your plants... Afternoon provides the light your plants need to thrive without the intensity of the noonday sun... Several hrs of direct sunlight after 2 pm, in addition to morning light, is typically desired for grow'n... Me personally, I don't feel !00% comfortable giving u my opinion with the limited detail n ur description of (exact hours of direct sunlight) but I'd say morning to mid day... Hope this helps ya Bud Green Sr... -F.S
