SUNCOURT INLINE FANS

OK - i know i'll probably catch some flak for this, but was a big hardware chain this weekend and seen these suncourt inline fans along with other venting supplies, was wondering if they were crap or what, not useaeble for our applications...the better 6" inline was only like $28 (i know, you only get what you pay for, but there are rare exceptions, like when you steal it:) i was actually looking at the stanley blower with mods instead, might last longer....

Well the inline fans are good for supplementing your venting if your run is to long and I just saw where someone modified one of those stanley blowers. So in other words you are not alone. Don't be afraid to modify, if people never tinkered around then nothing new would ever be invented. Just be careful with electricity and such.

I'll try and find that article about the Stanley blower.

Good Luck.

clarification - pontiac has a sig link to it on how to modify stanley blower - i think that is what i'm going to do.

i just seen those fans from
http://www.suncourt.com/
at the store and was wondering if they were applicable or not. they have inlines, thermstats, mufflers, blah blah, but i think it's all meant for household apps. not that that really means anything here.

oh yeah, i love DIY projects

Not worth it IMO...they are just duct booster fans and can't handle backpressure/static resistance any better than a muffin fan.

You're right though...you do get what you pay for usually, and sometimes going cheap costs more in the long run.

Suncourts works OK for me, not too good with back pressure though. RR420 is right, check the link in my sig for a much better fan. Its the stanley blower and this thing kicks ass. It blows as much as air as a 265 dayton, and has 3 speeds (Stanley makes bogus claims that it can blow over 1000cfm, but its still powerful as hell). Much thanks to the dopest for creating this tutorial. I plan on modding the stanley for my next grow, cus my basement gets too hot on summer days for a 160cfm suncourt to handle.

Get the Stanley! They are actually decent fans.

I have a Suncourt 6" and it's a piece of shit. It moves very little air, is horrible with back pressure, and makes a lot of annoying noise. Not just moving air noise, it made these annoying high pitched motor sounds on and off, making it really obvious there was a fan running in my cab. After about a 1/2 week of using it I put it away in my closet and I haven't used it since.

So Stanley all the way!

that's kinda what i thought, hell for $40, i'm going to try the stanley fan and go with the mods on it. i want to hang it on my ceiling and cut a 4" hole in the ceiling to duct it through to attic. this is a closet in a rental. i'm pretty sure i can rig it back together before i decide to move out, how hard can it be. i need to get an exhaust system going , sick of leaving door open all the time....
