Neither. I think that plant got up into the light at some point while the leaves were developing. IT looks FAR too healthy in other aspects to suspect a deficiency. But without any additional info that is no more than an edumacated guess.

Edit: Even if it is chemical, when I see clear banding like that on a healthy plant, and new growth looking good, that indicates a stressor, either chemical or physcial, that is no longer affecting the plant.

Your fly is open in the second pic. Not sure if that is stressing the plants or not but I'd try zipping up and see if that helps. :muahaha:

so i started with a salt treatment. some epsom salt mixed in with regular water and the yellow parts dried up awnd are dead but the new growth seems fine.

Plant looks like it grew out of whatever the problem was. I wouldn't worry about it.

Did the Salt treatment make anything worse? I would have waited until the problem persisted or got worse before trying any treatments to fix it.

Also....
Just curious to see if zipping up did anything to help. :]
