Suggestions for a smaller space with 4 pots

I've got 4 troublemakers from Doc Chronic. Not sure of the sex, coming from seed. Growing really tight nodes, 1/2"-3/4" max. They're in a cab 36"x24". 400w HPS. Not too old and too whacked to remember right now anyhow.

A couple days ago - the lowryders on the right will be out of there in a couple weeks. You can see where by space concern is kicking in right now. These things want to take off.

I want to make the most of the grow so I was thinking a scrog, but then wouldn't that make a huge mess if a couple end up being male? I've only got about 18" of vertical space to work with before getting too close to the light for comfort. Would put it about 6" away from the bulb which is centered in the top of the cabinet.

Would an LST be better for getting these to turn into little bushes or just train the tops along closer to the bottom of the cab?

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks all.

Hi Space,
I grow in a small space myself, 2'x2'x5'. 18" ceiling is really low for a 3'x2' footprint. I would suggest you top them atleast twice and go with a SOG. Try to keep the plant canopy even. I have a current pic of a 5 plant grow with plants I have topped to give me 30 tops within the 2'x2' footprint.
Good luck with your grow.

Right on... Thanks a bunch. Nice looking patch you got there.

Gave them a hair cut tonight. Just nipped the top of each branch and of course the main stalk. Just cut the tip of the newest shoot in half. Think I've heard this caled FIM, as in, Fuck I Missed... Anyhow - something from a 10 year old high times article on super cropping gave me that idea. So combined with your obvious good fortune, I'd say we've got a winner.

Best of luck to you. Thanks again.

I have thought the typical cab user doesnt utilize the space very well...

I dont grow in a cab but I train my mother plants to stay low to the ground so they can use the same flouros I use on my veg plants....

Here is an overview of what I do.....

I grow the plant normally until the shoplights start to seem inadequate... say they are 8"

I then transplant but in a very specific way....

I use a one gallon oblong water container... I plant the plant on the extreme end of the container.... leave some space for the plant.....

I then tie the stem at soil level and bend the plant slowly until its horizontal...
I normally remove the leaves and the growth from the underside....some will quickly reorient themselves and dont need to be pinched...

I pinch the top of the plant when it runs out of room....

Then all the lateral growth will grow....

Keep the branches even by tieing down the tallest ....

When you are ready go 12-12....

This technique allows me to veg twice....

The first time the main stem is vertical the second time the stem is horizontal....

Thanks for stopping by all.

TSM - These little fuckers have a trunk on 'em already. I guess I should have started the LST a couple weeks ago. It does have some extensive side branching though. After topping, I hope to end up with 20+ tops already. Probably top twice as suggested by GS. How much will this affect the veg time do you folks think? Hope to end up with a nice batch of clones for the next go round. Got another cab in the works right now.

Budly - That's what I was leaning for. Probably do something fairly similar when I get these things alone in a few days. The lowryders are just about ready - checked on a seed in them tonight (doing a seed run - pollenated as soon as possible then chopped males.) But I thought about running them across the space and let their shoots go. Cover the floor man - I can't wait to see what these little ones do! Those are 10" pots by the way - these things are unreal. Grow super fast when they start to take off.

Be safe all.

These ought to make some nice kush bush!

Nohing bad to say about these LR's yet - they smell fantastic and are really starting to sugar up quite a bit. The bean that I picked out tonight looked just about right. Since I'm going for seed, going to pay a little more attention o those than the trichs this time around.
