Suck or Blow

I have searched high (very high in fact) and low for this figuring it would be one of those questions that has been asked and answered a million times, but......no such luck.

Should a fan suck or push air through a carbon filter?

If it matters my carbon scrubber is homemade, here's a pic, and I can post a link if needed.

Let me know.

PS LOTHAR - I pm'd you about this but figure if I cant find it no one else probably can either so it is worthy of a thread.

Well the store bought ones work more efficiently and are mad to suck the air in but will work just aswell as blowing the air in.

jnugg- i think you meant for the last word to be "out" and not "in" but please confirm.

From the replies so far it shouldnt matter. This logically makes sense since as long as the perfumed air passes through the carbon it should get deoderized.

Maybe the better question is one of efficiency.

Keep the replies coming since I am not 100% sure this is solved.

thanks

Here's what it all comes down to. And this is the BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!! What kinda fans are you running? If they are the squirrel cage type they obviously pull air through it. This is the way these fans are ddesigned PERIOD!!!!!! If you have inline fans like vortex or can fan etc then it would work the opposite way as this is the way these fans are designed!

I've ran my inline pulling air through a scrubber which is what most people do, and it works great. But this grow I'm blowing through my carbon scrubber because I'm in a cab now. So we'll see how it works, either way it will work.

I want to know the answer to this too. I just got back from the store looking for parts and trying to figure out ways to make some homemade CSers. Look for the post in the growroom and designs forum regarding how to made a homemade srubber. I'd like some of you guys to post pics and direction on how to make one there.

wow, it seems as if no one really knows.

Quit being a lazy bitch and call any one of the fan manufacturers... They will give you the answer.

Hey bitch, I will be using PC fans. Try calling a PC fan manufacturer and asking "yeah, I was just wondering would your fans be best blowing or sucking air through a carbon filter?"

So how about you shut the fuck up?

your using a pc fan for a scrubber... and your telling me to fuck off... I already gave the answer prick, do something useful and validate it. (I.E. call the manufacturer) are you afraid to ask a question to a stranger who is probably thousands of miles away from you?

haha, seriously JH, wow dude, as I said in my post the ideal way is to pull the air through the scrubber (here you go JH this is what the manufacterers tell you to do with a scrubber) but it doesn't matter!!!!! So go read the posts again!!

Yeah I'd say using pc fans isn't going to really do anything.

Go smoke a bowl before you post!!!!!

It can depend on how they are built (in store bought units)/desinged.

I was told by vortex to push with their fans.

If in a cab push.

there are alot of contradictory answers. Sorry if I can't make sense of all this jabble.

And the PC fans work well, many stealth/micro boxes use them. I asked a question and was called a "lazy bitch". I think my reaction was warranted. :bat:

Um, let's see...

So you've got 3 months on me and that automatically makes me an idiot? Love the logic there.

Have you never heard of setting up a micro-cab with PC fans? Alot of rubbermaid and PC cab grows use PC fans exclusively. Why would you set up a 6" vortex fan to vent a rubbermaid grow?
