Studying/testing questions

So, I'm a med user, so let's not say "just don't smoke" right off the bat before you hear me out..

1) When I study, I'm usually smoking. I do well on my homework (computer science). As and Bs on homework assignments. I really like not having diarrhea and cramps while I study.

2) When I take the test, I'm getting Cs. I don't go to school high.

I was told that it has to do something with studying in an altered state and I should be in the same state when I take my exam. Is there any way to overcome that? I tend to get paranoid if I'm in class while high. I keep thinking, "everyone has to know I'm baked." Or I keep thinking I'll make a really stupid mistake on an exam or something.

Thoughts?

I can't even study or read when I"m high. Anything I read or try to remember I'll forget in 1 second so I'll be reading the same page all day lol.

I really can't mix studying or schoolwork and smoking weed doesn't work for me.

When I'm high, I get really focused and driven to "solve the puzzle" or "find the answer"... I think if you're smoking for pain relief the high is different?

i think its called state-based-learning or something.. basically it says
-if you study high, you will be better off taking the test high because it will be easier to recall what you learned, because your brain will most likely used the same pathways or something.

i dont think thats the exact name, but theres another thread in here somewhere that had it.

personally i think it works pretty good, but not everyone agrees, to each his own.

to avoid your problem.. i guess stop smoking when you study or start smoking when you test..

maybe lower your dosage when you are studying for tests. if i must smoke before studying, it cant be a lot or i might as well wait till the morning to study haha.

My son and daughter have both complained of short-term memory loss after a long bout of smoking. I personally suffer from What-the Fuck-Was_I- Doing Syndrome while smoking. Both my sons and my ex-wife have been teachers in Middle school and High School, and their worst students have been smokers. Some can handle it and some can't!

Sounds like your in uni/college. People are very liberal here and most of the people in your class have smoked weed or have close friends who smoke weed. Dont sweat it bro.

Yeah, I'm at a university. This summer, I was completing my other degree (sociology) and I was high all day long, got all A's and B+'s.

Somehow, I feel if I went to my computer science or logic classes with a buzz, I wouldn't do as well...

Funny, I always thought that was attributed to run-of-the-mill Azheimers at your age......

:D
But just remember---when you can---that no matter how many times we pick at ya, we still love our resident ol' fud.

ok. having graduated h.s. not too long ago, i'd like to ask how your sons and ex-wife knew which students were stoners.. most tokers i knew fealt that not letting teachers get wise to your shinanagins was pretty high on the list of priorities, especially cause we were often high as shit :nanana:

there are always those kids who are obvious stoners, but these are usually kids who have problems other than smoking. they generally just dont give a fuck about school because they spend all their time trying to hustle drugs or fuck chicks or they just plain don't give a fuck. they are not really a good indicator of a marijuana conaseurs scholastic abilities.

although, i guess if they were tokers themselves they might have that sixth sense about them :joint:

Actually many high school stoners are pretty stupid and like to brag about it. Others just come in with slitty, red eyes and are unable to concentrate. Not too hard to tell. One of my sons smokes, the other doesn't.

I dont know what the hell Cs menas but anyways.... State dependent learning is something that varies from individual to individual. Do you feel like you can remember the stuff better when you're high? This might just be a matter of experimenting by not going into your test stoned one day and see how you do.

The anxiety is a tough variable in this equation. You need to be smoking low anxiety strains of weed. I think its more critical for med users to have a strain thats more tailored to their needs.

Maybe a Cinderella 99 cross because C99 won't make you too drowsy I hear, and its got much of the sativa high without the paranoia.

i think u might need to just study more for the test? most of my classes give previous exams to help study with, that helps a lot

When I first started smoking in 1970, the weed we got was pure sativa. We smoked Cambodian, Michoacan and Acapulco gold. I found that I couldn't concentrate on them and couldn't focus my mind. Since I was working full-time, going to school full-time and had a family to raise, I decided to not smoke while I was studying or going to school. It was too important to me to finish. I got my masters with a 3.5 gpa. After school, I smoked when ever I wanted as I no longer had the pressure on me, but I eventually quit for 35 years, as I had responsibilities to my family and couldn't function as well stoned. All depends on your priorities and how well you handle smoking, school or work.
