Stripping fan leaves before harvest?

I've seen some people stripping all of the big fan leaves a few days before harvesting the plants. I'm wondering if this is a good idea - could it add some maturity or bulk to lower buds?
My plants are pretty leafy as can seen and the top buds are much more mature than lower ones:

hi there blackone,

it will remove some food from buds. I can't see how it would add anything

I would never recommend it to a grower.

i do it.. it lets the lower buds get the ever soo needed light. if you strip a few or just cut the tips of the leaves the plant will start to use them and help with bud prodution.

Try it with one or two plants. You are going to hear different opposite responses on this one.I've never tampered with viable fans believing they need the direct light, not the flowers.Your plants look nice

trial and error. i do it too. actually now ive switched to bending back leaves and letting the inner flowers get some light. its easy and if it doesnt help, well it sure didnt hurt much either. exposing these flowers(especially in early bloom) seems to create more heady buds out of what would normally be little "popcorn" buds. i say give it a shot.

i did so with this f13 along with training the branches. this pics is like 2 weeks old. now the interior buds have doubled in size and i expect this to improve the quality of my final yield. :joint:

hi everyone,

i agree that the lower buds don't get enough light. So i ended up removing all these buds hoping to redirect strength to upper buds. Who knows...

Honestly i dont do it to give lower nodes light i do it to make my trimming a hell of a lot faster. If i wanted the lower growth to get more mature i would chop the top nugs when ripe and let the lower part of the plant go another week or so. Multiple harvest it.

i take the fan leaves when they are upside down....they hold moisture and keept he pants moist...they dry faster that way...i would leave the fan leaves on while its alive...
