Stretching with Hortilux EYE Blue

Has anybody experienced MASSIVE stretching with the Hortilux EYE Blue during flower? No shit, 6 in. a day for the past 2 weeks. I'm out of room in my tent with 2 months to go. I put them on 12/12 at about 18in and now they're over 6ft! Four different strains. Don't know what I'm going to do.

I've flowered with very blue lights before but never that one. Typically I get much less stretch the more blue I go. How many watts per square foot are you running? Do you know your nutrient situation at all? Too much nitrogen in the early parts of flower has done odd things to me in the past, including goofy stretching.

Sorry for the slow response time. Had a crazy storm Thurs. night that knocked out internet all weekend. I'm running a 1000w in a 4x4 tent. As far as nutrients go I've top-dressed once with a super soil pretty close to Subcool's mix. Could have been high N. I give them a little boost with some EWC tea every now and then. The growth has seemed to slow down quite a bit since I originally posted but I'm still concerned with running out of room by harvest. I feel 3 weeks in is a little late to start bending and twisting branches as I don't want to cause stress and stunt growth during bud production. I was just hoping to get a better idea of if it was the light or my top-dress mix that was making them go crazy. I'm a big fan of big plants but 4ft of growth in 2 weeks is ridiculous. I'll do some more reading up on the N content of the soil amendments I use. Thanks for your response!

it's not the bulb IME. I have run those in flower. I like using MH in flower because that yellow from Sodium bulbs hurts my eyes. my clones have similar stretch regardless.

temps might be the issue. might be the strain. I've found bondage to be helpful when growing in tents. good luck with your girls!

Strain genetics are most likely to blame but higher temps can cause plants to stretch more n show different expressions... i did to rooms limewarp.. lvpkxnevilles. .. one room was 74 n the plants looked just like the kush.. finished in 9wks... other room same cut was around 84 took an extra 2 wks to mature , stretched like crazy, grew huge haze style spears n looked like a pure sativa... smoked the same... id say it a combination of those 2 things....

I've got 4 different strains going and it happened to all of them. It could very well be temps though. I'm hovering around 80-85F during lights on. I have the AC cranked but that 1000w puts off a lot of heat. Even with an air-cooled tube. I'll certainly have to figure my heat issue out and keep a close eye on it for the next round. Thanks everybody!

I would not be afraid to LST them even well into flower. It really doesn't harm anything, LST is called LOW stress training for a reason. I've even topped in the middle of flower and not really had a serious issue as a result. 80-85F is very hot for flowering though, and that easily could explain everything.

I've used that same bulb to flower before with no stretch problems like that... Probably the heat...

I could swear I read that 80-85F was almost ideal for "lights on" temp when growing in organic living soil. Am I mistaken? I know opinions vary on this topic. What would your ideal temps be?

During flower, 80 should really be your maximum, not your minimum. If you're using CO2 that's a different story though.
