stretch after flip

When you flip, (strain dependent of course) is it true, if the plant has reached full veg maturity it won't stretch as much as say a plant that has only vegged for 3 weeks? Or is it totally strain dependent? Thanks so much.

if a plant has reached maturity it will stretch up to a certain point, or rather for a certain amount of time. lets say a plant stretches for 2 weeks after the flip, then depending on how big the plant is when you put it in flower then you can calculate how big it should get overall when it's done.

if you start a plant from seed directly into 12/12 then it will grow and stretch to a certain point till it reaches maturity. once it's fully mature and flowers have started forming it may continue to stretch or it might be done at the time of flowers setting in. depending on how big the strain is known to get.

some sativa's never stop stretching, some indica's never stretch even when flowered. but in general plants will do any stretching over the course of the first 3 weeks after you see the first flower. which is about week 6 assuming you veg 4 weeks from seed and flip after the 4th week.

what are you trying to find out exactly? some plants stretch by getting taller, some stretch by getting branchy/bushy. for instance i've had sativa dominant plants that get a certain height in flower and stop except the flowers mostly grow from the main tip so even though the rest of the plant is just swelling the main cola grows upward the whole time. i've also had indica dominant plants that stopped growing on the main tip at a short height and then the branches flower by growing and branching more and more. like those lanky plants you may have seen being propped up with nets and scrogs.

Last I looked cannabis's natural life span was annual or 6 months minimum, but I only veg for a month or two ...sure strain dependent, then shoot for bud on the 12x12 for another 2 months, crashing so much growth thru such a small time frame ..( a quarter of its natural life) somethings gotta give, I believe you do get extra stretch the older the plants are, percentage wise, but again its very strain dependent, ...said battling my Keralya into the sun ...lol

You crop/super crop the stems. Either by pinching or bending them over. Or both. It will slow the stretch of the top buds, and at the same time boost lower nodes.

Right, I just haven't taken the time to do a side by side comparison yet. I'm not saying those amounts of time for veg are what I do, I'm asking, if one were to veg a clone for 4 weeks and flip vs vegging for 8 weeks, (same strain) would there be a difference in stretch? I heard the other day a plant vegged shorter before flip will stretch more than a plant vegged longer. Something about the plant reaching it's full maturity before the onset of flowers.

I've come to find out through my own experiences. That's strange to an extent is genetic, but more so depending on the environment in which it is grown. Lights, airflow ,and most importantly water and nutrition.contributes to the extent in how a plant will stretch.

No height restriction, stretch I's desired to fill the scrog. Want to make sure one of the flavors I have will fill the space. Never ran it before so I'll be doing a side by side to see EXACTLY how she does with the setup.
