What's new

Strawberry Blue

Cheers and salutations! This will be my first grow diary, so a little about myself before I get into the goods... I'm a disabled vet and grow for my meds and the love of it... haven't found a better hobby. Thanks to this wonderful plant I was able to quit taking the handful of pills prescribed for injuries of the body and mind and have found such a better quality of life.

And on to the start of the show. The strain is Strawberry Blue by World of Seeds (W Rhino and A. Haze #3 already going along with some bagseed from some tasty smoke). They went into paper towels yesterday, and less than 24 hours later the tap roots are poking through. I use the paper towel method most of the time, to keep it from drying out I put the damp towel in little cases designed for baseball cards.

As soon as the tails poke through I move them to small peat pucks which are stored placed in a mini humidity dome that can be purchased at any Wendy's burger joint, and it comes with a bonus sour cream and chive potato.

A little about the setup and plan. Ultimate goal is to select a mom, one of these will pretty much go straight to flower, because, well, I want some as soon as possible... if it turns out to be a winner then I'll reveg. The other two will get veg'ed until I can take a few clones, then they get a few days to recover before going into flower as well. After selecting mom's I am leaning towards going to SOG, but that will be a little ways down the road. I really like to beat them up though, big on topping and training them, so ultimate grow style will be what I think is giving me the best results in the new setup.

I'm still dialing in my space to say the least, so you'll probably get to see some of those growing pains here as well. For my space, the flower room is a 2x4 tent (already been through a few runs with it, lucked out and no off gassing issues with this tent) Not a ton of light, one side is under a 2 foot 4 bulb (mixed spectrum) T5, the other side is under a 150hps. Heat has been an issue, and the plants currently flowering suffered greatly because of it... used all the methods to cool it off that my setup and budget will currently allow, but got things down from 95-100  degrees to 80-84 with lights on, far from optimal but gotta work with what I have atm... lights off is low to mid 70's, which is lower than the rooms ambient at that time since I have an AC vent blowing into the intake. That said, this won't be the best representation of this strain, I'm sure many can get a lot more out of it with a better conditions... at least we will find out if it's heat tolerant. Veg room is just a closet, seedlings/clones sit under a 4' floro and are later moved under a 105cfl.

Soil grower, homemade mix of my compost, mushroom compost, manure, perlite, dol. lime and a little blood & bone meal. For nutes, FF Grow Big and Big Bloom and Cha Ching... Cal Mag as needed. I'm about out of Bloom nutes and low on cash, so I will probably be experimenting with Cha Ching as the sole bloom fert, watering it down to lower PPM early in flower and ramping it up as the plants will allow. We'll see how that goes.

I just planted a seed of this myself. Not much happening with it yet as it is only about 11 days old. It's 3 inches high with 4 leaves. I am growing it under a 90w ufo along with an Easyryder. keep me posted on your grow. Best of luck.

(I am also a vet who grows legally for medicine.)

Hey Winky, let me know how they are going... and feel free to post pics and updates in this thread if you want to track them almost side by side. Thanks for your service too my friend, glad you've found your way to the better meds as well.

Thanks IGro... would love for you to pop in and check up on things. Having some people keeping up will keep me motivated on posting.

All three germinated successfully, went into peat pucks until they popped above ground and then the pp's went into little 1.5" starter pots. They all showed tails the day after hitting the towels, and all three made it above ground and shed their shells less than 2 days from going underground, really pleased so far. I use the small peat pucks and move them to the small pots quickly so they don't dry out. No real method to my madness of going into the pucks and then to dirt so quickly, just the way I've done it for some time now and it has worked well for me. Nothing worth taking pics of yet but I'll update in a few days so we can get a look at the vigor of these ladies.

Just had a BB Blue Cheese show it's tail too, and have my freebie Blue Widow (Dinafem) in towels now... since they will all be so close together I'll probably track them all here. Really pleased with the success rate, only bought a 3 pack of the Straw Blue's and a single Blue Cheese, the Blue Widow was a solo freebie as well (all fem). 4/5 makes me happy, 5/5 will be the stuff.

I'm hoping at the end of this to have 4-5 mom's total (although I'm picking from a limited selection on some). Already have my A. Haze #3 mom, a handful of Rhino's that I'm hoping to pick from... although two of the Rhino's just went frat boy on me and showed their nuts to everyone. And then a Straw B, B Chees and if it pops, B Widow mom's. Once that's all in place I have decided to run a perpetual SOG, probably 4 clones a week rotating through strains and just move them down the line in the flower room from the T5 to the HPS. Cheers! --T2H

Thanks for letting me share a few pictures. I didn't want to hijack your grow journal or anything. I will post a picture soon. I resized a couple to web large which I think was 800x600 and tried to upload to the gallery but it said that was too large. I tried just attaching it but then I couldn't see the images when I did a preview.
Anyway, the grow is going well. It looks really healthy so far.
I am interested in seeing your grow so I can guage how well mine is doing.
Looking forward to reading more about yours. Keep up the motivation because I will check back often to see yours.

Looking good man, one of mine has a few little spots, not sure what the deal is... but here are the three little Strawberry Blue's...

And here is the mad science shelf...

And a couple of bud shots from some A Haze #3, it just hit week 9 of flower, smuggled a sample nug off it yesterday, already a nice little high but this train definitely needs to go 11 weeks, at least my pheno does.
