Hey all, I've been lurking the forum on and off for a while, and finally decided to try an indoor mj grow. I've been doing fruits/veg/cacti/succulents indoor for a while now, and picked up the basics of what it takes to grow a healthy plant, but a lot of the mj stuff is new to me or unknown, and I wouldn't claim to be even an intermediate gardener with the other stuff. I'm also using an unfamiliar bottle of fertilizer, which could be the source of issues. I'm having an issue with yellowing leaves, and would appreciate any help, tips or clues you all could provide.
Here's the scenario in bullet points
Grow room
- 8 bulb t5ho with 6500k bulbs for veg.
-20/4 lighting schedule
- Room temp between 60 and 80 Fahrenheit min/max
- strains having issues: Wappa and Kripple Roulette to a lesser extent.
- plants 4-5 weeks old since clones were put into soil.
Growing medium
- for the first 4 weeks: 70/30 promix bx/chunky perlite with lime added, and a bit of worm castings.
- Week 5 plus: Potted up into 3 gal smart pots with 50/20/30 mix of FF Ocean Forest/Home Made compost/chunky perlite + lime. I had hoped this would help buffer ph if that was indeed the issue.
Nutes
-Earth Juice Sugar peak Vegetative, fed initially at 'light' and 'moderate' doses ever watering, but for the past 2.5 weeks at 'strong doses every watering. Stronger doses seem to help alleviate the yellowing temporarily
-Earth Juice microblast fed at 'light' doses 2 of 3 waterings for the past 3 weeks.
-Earth Juice Oily Cann cal/mag fed at moderate doses every other watering for past 3 weeks. Was hoping this might have been a cal/mag deficiency, but this hasn't solved it.
-Distilled water has been used for the solution, and the solution has been bubbled for 24hr before usage.
Thoughts
- After each dose of nutes the yellowing stops temporarily.
- I like to let my plants dry out a lot in between waterings, like right until they start drooping, but the yellowing always some back before I can get that far, and forces me to water/feed. It seems like I shouldn't have to be giving strong doses of nutes multiple times a week to plants that are not even a foot tall.
- The new soil mix seemed to help the problem temporarily. I watered just distilled/no nutes water right after the transplant, and they waited almost a week before beginning to yellow again.
Pictures below accurately show symptoms, although they do not should the yellowing leaves I prune off every time I water and feed the plants (generally 2-5).
The first 6 pictures are one plant, the last 4 are another. These are my two largest plants, but the other, smaller, wappa also shows these symptoms, so it may not be size related.
Apologies if this is a bit of a novel. I just wanted everything I could think of out there, in case it might be helpful. If you've made it this far, you are a kind soul!
