STRANGE looking RED bud

Hello people,

Some time ago I got some herb, and I found this on the little baggy, otherwise containing green buds

At first I thought it was a red-purple bud like I've seen them before, but this is nothing like that...

I even thought of it being some sort of "legal bug" (like the stuff sold online in the US) but this ain't it, it's herb.

It won't dry, doesn't smell particularly strong and I'm wondering if it's been contaminated with some sort of fungus...

What do you think? Any input would be appreciated

Nop, it doesn't MisterX, it's got more of a "soggy" feeling, despite the fact that I've left it drying for days.. But no pigments are left on my fingers after touching it.

Wu-Skunk, yeah, I'm hesitant to do so, tho I must reckon I've already rolled a fatty or 2 from it. All the (good) green bud that came in the same bag is gonne, and I was feeling "experimental". I don't think that the risk of getting a fungus infection on your lungs is worth it tho, so I'm not touching it anymore.

Nevertheless, I wanted to share it with the forum, to try to identify the origin of it's colour.

I've been checking literature on alterated weed, and the truth is that it's scary. I have seen some of the bud with extra silica (sand) but never anything like this. Since it was only a small part of the bag, I pressume something went wrong with it.

The question is what...

A old friend of mine told me he used to get Panama Red occasionally and it would look like that but unless positively identified I would play it safe.

Looks ok to me. :) Just a dark pigmented strain. There's plenty of herb that'll turn out like that, especially outdoor stuff. I'd smoke it. :) If it's harsh, I'd stop. :) peace.

thats all u guys got over there in europe eh?

Believe it or not, most now growing folks in the UK smoke soapbar resin that is probably 4% THC. Of course, there is good commercial available, but recently I've seen a lot of bad stuff, buds that were mouldy, or about to turn mouldy, all kinds of crap. I saw a trash bag full of Skunk #1 buds last week that a commercial guy had grown, it was badly burned by too much nutes, barely trimmed, lots of the buds had brown burn spots from too much ferts and the lights, lots of the leaf was brown and burnt from too much fert. I smoked a pipe of it and nearly died coughing, so full of ferts and chemical tasting it was untrue. Cheeky bastard was charging 150 pounds an ounce for it or 20 pounds an eighth. He hates me now as I told everyone I knew not to buy it and he could only sell a small part of it. It wasn't even dry, seemed like it had been dried for two days max, and I trimemd an eighth someone bought of all the leaf and after removign 1.6g of leaf (that was still fairly damp) he had 2.7g left, so he want back and complained. The guy gave him a handful and told him to fuck off, he couldn't sell it anymore so have a handful and never come back.

I offered to tech him how to harvest and prepare his buds but he wasn't interested. I offered to teach him about flushing your plants and avoiding nute burn, he wasn't interested. I heard he rented a house for 500 pounds per month for 4 months in order to grow his crop, and spent 2000 pounds on his ebb n flow setup so he spent 4000 plus electricity and only sold about 500 pounds worth of buds, no wonder he is pissed at me, but I had to tell people his weed was BS. He even told people it was Cheese, well, it wasn't, it was Skunk #1, I know who he got the clones from to get started.

If it's a fungus, you would most likely be able to see some kind of growth on it, like fuzz or squishy spots or some evidence of the fungus eating it. The fact that you say it doesn't dry is VERY odd. That makes me think it is something living. I've gotten brick weed that was black, rounded, and smelled like rubber on one side, which was obviously from being on the inside of a tire. Yours could be something similar; shipped in some kind of container which was contaminated with some foreign substance. Does it look like it could be some kind of dye? Somebody trying to make the herb look all crazy? Then maybe it didn't work out so they didn't dye the rest of it? Could be some kind of pesticide/herbicide, or reaction too

That's my guess anyways, fungus or foreign material.

The fact that it isn't drying is odd, and I definately wouldn't smoke it simply for that reason.

I must say though I smoked the rubber bammer...but I was also 14 at the time.

Thanks all for the feedback... The piece in question has already been dished, and replaced with a rather nice & nice organic herb :D

With regards to its origins, it was either the NL or a surrounding country. As I mentioned before, this was the only bud in the bag with such characteristics... I had already smoked the rest, so couldn't take pic for you to compare... :bat: It was grown indoors, and was more of an indica effect than a sativa (as in Pma Red), that's what I can say from the green buds that came with it.

Anyhow, the bit I tried wasn't that good, so I decided to better be safe than sorry. There's WAY too much crap being added to herb nowadays, France, Belgium, the UK... you name it :wallbash: Even stuff that I know from that fact that comes from the NL has a silica aditives, yummi! And that's added to the fact that most times if not even properly dried... But other than that, Europe is a pretty nice place :biglaugh: We also have them primo buds, but as everywhere, you gotta know the right people (or live in the NL).

My fear is that growing has been taken up by individuals concerned with making money. People should be free to grow their own, should they wish to.
