strains that are like the old days? (70s & 80s)

i miss the weed that we had in the 70s and 80s, in my opinion (now dont get butt hurt over this) the weed to day is just not as good.

ive tried all the kush, berry this berry that, tootie fruity fruit loop whateverthefuck and it gets me stoned but it dosent get me HIGH.
you old timers (im 50) know what i'm talking about. that euphoric psychedelic high that makes you daydream and imagine things.

todays weed looks real pretty, the buds are all tight as rocks and uniform in size, but looks aint everything.

the stuff we got back then was light, airy full of seeds and it was still better than todays gourmet crap.

soo, what strains exist today that are similar to the old strains?

I believe you are talking the up/sativa strains of old. That Colombian of my younger years was great up and do things shit, not knock you down and sleep ganja. Hell even the Jamaican/Mexican stuff energized you. I do believe there are haze strains out there that are sativa like, but the mature/flowering times are longer.

real thai stick is very rare since the late 80´s.

but the real haze, or a good haze hybrid possibly gets you back to the high you do miss when smoking fast indoor hybrids of the present.

well ive tried haze and its too racy for me, i dont like feeling like i'm having a heart attack when i'm high.

i'm looking for a sativa that is trippy trancending and psychedelic.

ive tried some that were suppossed to do that without the racy effects like satori, flo, kaili mist, but they are just not what im looking for.

in my slightly jaded opinion, the Mango Haze from Shanti is bomb, and takes 100 days.

i have not seen this strain available (not the real thing anyway) in clubs or black market, probably because of the flowering time. makes sense; the commersh growers want nothing that goes longer than 60.

0% racy 0% paranoia for me anyway. i feel ya though.

I found Panama Red from ACE to be a lot like Colombian, in both taste and high. You want some uv on them like a cmh or I use pl-l fluoro almost touching the plants, hps is nothing like equatorial sun.

most of the 70-80´s weed was import from southern latitude countries,
where they cultivate mostly sativas.

Try some ACE or Cannabiogen sativas or hibrid's pure old and power genetic's, there are some 100% sativas.

Ace Old Timer's Haze is the bomb. It is electric and euphoric. If you smoke too much, it can get a touch racy, but not too much paranoia...



These flowered for 140 days, so they are not for the impatient. None in stock now but Dubi said maybe more in 2012. I think you can get the Old Timer's Haze (either green or purple) x Meao Thai which should shorten flowering by a few weeks or more. Most of the Ace gear is more sativa/old school. I've also grown their Bangi Haze and it is definitely a day brightener. Strong and stinky...'


I've heard great things about the Skunkman's thunk (thai haze x skunk). Got some seeds and looking forward to running them in the future.

If you're looking for a pure sativa, Ace/Cannabiogen is the place to look. I put them together because they are usually mentioned in the same breath. Tom Hill's Haze can also be had for a good price (Edit: I might be mistaken, but I think Ace's OT Haze and Tom Hill's are very closely related if not the same). A couple of the lesser known breeders have done some stuff with Colombian, from what I've seen on Seedbay. Don't forget about Original Haze x Skunk1. The Thunk has also been mentioned previously in this thread. The Thunk is likely to go longer than the regular SkxHaze, but you won't find a bad report about either one. Personally, I'd go with a verifiable Skunk x Haze cross to keep the flowering time down a little (will still be long, though). So many great clones and hybrids have come out from the Skunk that it's hard to pass that one up.

Have a look at Chimera's Highland Mexican x Blueberry.. it's not for growing indoors, unless you have high ceilings and hang vertical lights, but it's a true mexican landrace.. have a look at the chimera forum for some ideas about what to expect. Most people describe it as party weed, happy, thoughtful, etc.

RiverRat I am wanting exactly the same high you describe.I remember it well(I'm 50 too). That cerebral uplifting creative happy high. No paranoia and no couch lock ! It was euphoric uplifting and made you want to talk to God. I would love to relive that feeling again. I could go on talking about it but you are correct in your assessment. O the days of old (lore)...gone gone gone...if they ever were. 70's 80's?....those strains are gone. Even if you found the exact same stuff...it wouldn't be the same. Nostalgia can't bring back the locations where the shit was grown....and that has everything to do with it. Losses must be cut....times change.
