they were good because they were grown in their native habitat,
and, nothing better was available, so, folks just didnt know anything else.

they were all landrace sativas and some hybrids
wasnt until the late 70s/80s when the vast majority of growers smartened up

read a few pages deep in this old stoners and breeders forums--
there are about 200 threads just like this started here already.

Actually the strains in Amsterdam came from north cali. Haze, Sk#1 and so on. The Dutch just built on what the Americans had started so long ago.

There were some kick ass strains back in the day, alot of crap too. The good strains would be good by today's standards too. There were alot more sativas and some of them had a much longer high than some of todays strains. Some weed kept you high for hours compared to alot of todays strains which can be very potent but have a shorter stone.

Indeed, Alot easier to get a nice sativa back in the day. Most shit now is indica or hybrids which are good . But a good szativa is the best ( IMHO) . Back in the day you would score a bag and get surprises when you got a nice sativa that would put your dick inthe dirt. Also could find a real roadkill skunk that would funk up the whole place. I remember smoking roadkill in my room at my moms and she was pissed. Didnt mind most herb but the road kill stunk up her house and she was not very happy. The good old days

Hey Nevermind how about just having a nug of that roadkill in your house? You could smell it outside. Those were the days. :joint:

I wish I still had a plant of that flourescent green roadkill skunk.

What about the Thai sticks? 2 for $20.00?

Back in the 70s (Texas) I really didn't know the "strain" we were getting but we knew where it came from (or thought we did). To me it was interesting to get weed from all over the world. But with a few exceptions most of the weed I got back then was bad by todays standers, I remember getting mexi brick for $10 a lid that would make todays shwag look pretty good.

Yeah that shit was awful. almost to skinky. Everyone says diesel is the smelliest herrb, but roadkill cant be touched! That shit was rank, almost smelt so bad you didnt want to smoke it . But once you did you were out of it for a bit. I remeber being almost deadly high from strains back in the day. I live the herb of today, the taste cant be beat. but some herb from back in the days would just cripple you. I spent 2 days in a hotel room at a truck stop with a friend with some roadkill. We had to stop at a truck stop hotel since we were so high. Ended up smoking the rest there and couldnt move for days.

I've heard stories about the weed back in the 70's. My uncle used to get Panama Red all the time he said. Also Thai Sticks and Colombian Gold. I told him he's about to take a trip back to memory lane when I break out the Acapulco Gold this summer.

You just reminded me of some of the good old days. The blonde and black hash were one of the other great things to get high on. :woohoo: And when a chick knew you had pot, they would be very friendly. :yummy:
