I've seen some really silvery light looking strains, a blue strain, and some purple strains. What caused these changes in colors? What are some good purple strains?
colors are in the genetic of the plant but also due to the environemental conditions, most of the purple strain will need some lower temperature during the nights to show purple. The high differences of temperatures gives a better ratio of purple.
Some good purple strains : Herijuana, Romulan , purple haze , C99X Blackberry.
the color factor is written' in the genetic structure, different strains have diff potentials, so they can produce colors in many ways.. some can turn purple/blue ..others only with pinky hairs, some others with purple calyxes & green leaves...etc
the way how a plant Can turn purple is fixed in genetic ..but how much it Will actually be, is depending also on the conditions. for many strains are the low temps definitely the environmental trigger for making the colors deep (though it's not the same with all plants
heres a F13 i grew indoor & now she is about a week on the balcony under 16 hours day for reveg..
inside the temps are warm ..outside we have some really cool, nearly cold nights in the last daze (crazy weather)
look what a funny change happened with this pheno and that was very quick...
this plant already had some purple tops in the warm indoors.. also a bit purple trics (hope for more in the winter
Whats a phenotype oh and if i grew a nl or a big bud plant with low temps can it turn purple? I did a search on phenotype and to me it looks like a plant with abnormal details, is that what it is?
about purple nl or big bud, there is a low chance for that, this varieties have not high purple potentials, so the low temps will not help much.. though some individual purple plants can appear. watch out cuz you can also get a kind of purple from -P deficit
whats -P defficieny is that the same p from the npk if so then i know what your talking about and whats genotype? Lastly i hear there are some clone only plants... like train wreck why is that, if they are so special where can i get some?
Phenotype is whether the plant smells like gasoline, or blueberries. Whether the buds are tight, or loose. Plant is short and squat or tall and lanky. Flowers early, flowers late. Coated in resin, or just lightly speckled. All within the same strain. Simply put phenotypes are the differences in one strain.
(the above are examples, might not be THAT much difference in phenotypes, like the gas and blueberries)
*edit* -P, phosphorus deficiency (yes, NPK). Usually results in purple stems and/or other purple stuff. Better to have the genetics do the purpling than to take away precious food
Ok I got it now so phenotype are specific traits and genotype is the main backbone of traits one specie has. Thanks for clearing that up should have paid attention in 6th grade science.
I think clone only strains are ones with god-like phenotypes. Keep in clone form so they can keep the best of the best. Make seeds and then it is only a % that you get what the original was. That and/or the seeds will be a lesser version of the parent. Not completely sure, but it sure does sound right doesnt it? lol
