Multiple food vacuum sealed bags & then into a cold dark place like a fridge or freezer.

In the freezer, it tends to become dry/brittle, but is still just as good to smoke.

In an airtight jar in a lightproof and cool area. The three enemies when storing bud are; heat, light, and air. Do your best to avoid any of these contacting the stored bud and it should keep for 6 months to a year. I haven't been able to store much longer than that without losing some quality.

sorry if this is in the wrong place. i dont like what vacuum sealed bags do to the bud. thanks everyone for the info.

I don't like bags either...nasty undertones if left for too long.

I use ceramic canisters over anything else. They are lightproof, and air tight, then all you have to do is control the temps around them. I personally don't like jars with screw tops...too easy for me to over tighten (possibly striping the threads) and not always airtight, plus most are clear. Canisters have a clamp and a nice fat rubber seal, and if you get ceramic...totally light proof.

Easy to get and keeps your herb in the best way, when light, heat, air is controlled = mason jars w. rubber seal.

If placed in the freezer and rough handled, trichs might break off (kinda like making ice hash) but I don't think this is significant in practice. I personally store some bud in the freezer.

If you mean vacuum sealed bags ruin the shape of the bud by compressing it, you can try finding vacuum sealed jars.

Also, I don't know of anyone who does this but perhaps putting nitrogen into the container before sealing it will help it last longer, as no air would be trapped in the container upon storage. This is done for wine/alcohol.

Make sure they are totally dry, put in glass mason jars in fridge. You can put the jars inside a dark brown paper bag or similiar if it's open alot. If you have a garage or storage room you can just buy one of the little dorm mini-fridges and outfit it with a clasp & padlock and keep your buds & beans in there cold and safe out of harms way or out of the sight of any nosy company. Since most biological processes slow way down around fridge temperatures which are down around 35-40F or so which is just above freezing you can store bud like this for at least 2 or 3 years with minimal changes other than it starting to cure more. For long term storage more than a few years max you are going to need to vacuum seal it and freeze. ;)

you guys keep weed around that long? dam I always smoke it before it starts gettin bad etc...lol Interesting concept...*pays attention

I too store my buds in mason jars in a cool dark place ( the basement works good ). I have some buds that are going on a couple months old now and they just seem to keep getting better ( the smell and taste ). I hear people saying that eventually the buds will start to diminish in quality but ive yet to see that happen , ive had buds from an outdoor harvest in jars for atleast half a year and the last bud i smoked was no worse than the first one. I also make sure to move the buds around and open the jars up and get the old air out and new air in once every few days when storing for longer periods.

I've always wondered about that myself. I have Argon but no Nitrogen...will have to do some research.

Oh, and Mason jars in the fridge or freezer for me.

hi everyone i was just wondering if after its all dried & cured do you have to keep opening the jar (or whatever) every now & then (besides for smoking it) or just close it & forget about it only opening it when you want some?

I would buy a hygrometer and put it in the container with the weed. Wait, did I say "would". I meant I do put a hygrometer in with it :)

When it gets down to a stable 60% humidity, it can be sealed permanently.

$15-$20 at amazon and would save an untold thousands of dollars worth of weed. Good investment.

It wont cure tough. Oxygen and air transfer help break down chlorophyll. Only store this way if you are done curing for 6 months. that is the ideal time to store it the freezer in side of a vacuum sealed bag, or jar.

I have a question tell me if i have the idea right,
cure for 6 months in ceramic canister, Then if you plan on curing longer than 6 months you can THEN add the nitrogen and vitually have bud good forever if left at optimal temps?
do I have the idea right?
