Storing Clones?

BlueBear

Hello folks I am about 30 days from harvest and I need to cut some clones off of my mums right now because they are becoming to crowded in their cab. I want to find a way to maybe store the clones for another 2 weeks before I plant them to start rooting because the clone area wont be able to hold a bunch of month old clones . I had fair success putting a clone in a cup of water for about a week and then planting it, but I am not sure if there are other methods or if I can do the cup of water thing in a more efficient way. Just don't know.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe refrigeration? I heard, I think, of someone putting the cuttings in a plastic bag with water and placing the bag in the refrigerator. I guess you would recut the stems before planting. Anybody heard of this?

yes the refriderator in ziplock aired up wraped stems in damp paper towel...or fill baggy with a little water....throw them in the crisper drawer...im sure there are other methods...this is the one i use

another thing you could do is to do the windowseal method of cloning which takes longer... just take cuts put in glass of water...change water every couple of days.

The ziploc in the fridge will work, I think i managed 7 weeks in there you might get longer just didnt need too. I have put a bunch in the fridge today just breathed in the bag if you do this regular it can support them for a few weeks at least.

Wow, the Fridge? I can give it a try. So, steps, I need steps if anyone would be so obliging. I need a little water in the bag near the roots I take it? Do I need a paper towel in the bag for moisture or anything like that or to block out light from the bag?
Thanks so far, this will be something that I incorporate into many other projects if successful.

A bit late i know but i thought i would share how i keep clones in stasis.
Really i would only use this method if i wanted to keep clones for over 4 weeks if less then water cloning is probably simpler.

Theres a lot of ways to do this i am just showing you a way that has worked for me.

First you need a small pot, a plastic bag and your clone (I have only tried un'rooted clones so far).

Then add water to your pot :) . and secure your clones. I used a peg her but i think a paper clip would be much better.

Next you want to place the pot and clone into the bag and almost seal the bag up. Blow into the small opening in the bag so that the bag is completely inflated and seal it up.

You should find if you inflated the bag enough you can carry it by the top and the pot shouldn't fall over. So put this in your fridge, in my case the beer cooler.

Finally you need to prevent light getting to clone. In this Case i have used brown paper which i occasionally use for drying buds. The beer coolers not so great for this as it has a glass front but it shows you can use pretty much any type of fridge unit.

Its up to you how often you change the water but i generally change it every week or two. You need to change the air in the bag every so often or you clone wont survive. I tried to do this every few days but i clones have goin longer and survived :D
I have used this method to keep clones in stasis for about 7-8 weeks.
Time for a smoke, i hope someone finds this useful.
