Storage Units : Information available to LEO?

Hey quick question....are your standard storage units trackable by LEO. Do they show up in background checks, etc like a rented address does?

Just curious..currently using other trusted people, but i was wondering if i could just put in my name,

As long as i destroy the paper records, and use a storage unit an hour outside of my city...can LEO find out about it?? If my house was raided they would just find a random key, no way to know about where its located. They could probably go and check all the storage businesses for my name...but if its several counties outside maybe its safe?

Just wondering...its probably just best to keep doing under an unrelated persons name..the unit is NOT for any drug related stuff. just legally registered guns/ammo that i do not want around my grow...

Nah they won't be able to find it as long as you get rid of paper trail.

Every place I've dealt with doesn't ask for SS# either and you could put whatever address you want, just need to prove you are who you say you are with an ID.

yeah im just wondering if they could subpoena a storage unit company for all their records, and just browse for my name.

but theres no "united" storage unit database, where all the different companies keep their records consolidated.

so if i use some off-brand storage facility in a far out town....no way for them to find out? they would have to call every storage unit business (hundreds) and ask if my name was in their customer list?

if you use someone elses name it seems policeproof...but you gotta make sure that person is trustworthy!

off subject a little but if you store guns and ammo i would make sure the unit is climate controlled ... the freeze -thaw cycle will be hell on your guns.

unless your cases are air tight you might want to not use dessicant ... that stuff will suck up all the water it can and then you have it sitting next to your stuff. AIR TIGHT is how its gotta be for long term if your gonna use that stuff.

Many LEO pay for information from Unit Storage employees...

I know of one that has his own sniffing dog...

TECH here...

It is possible to merge all databases but it is difficult Tech...

It is done for each major Storage Company and their Franchisees...

ALL...No...

Buy pvc pipe with caps. Insert gun into pvc pipe, cap off, bury in back yard. Thats how i'd do it :) As far as storage companies go delete paper trail and your in the clear.

that is one of the best types of low cost quickie "safe houses". I've also rented office spaces with paid utilities (and of course private access & parking). I prefer something more private than storage units for long term use & more frequent use.
