Stop Using Cell Phone Cameras

The obvious solution here is to not upload incriminating pictures to your mobile phone companies servers.

Just connect the phone to your pc and pull the images off that way.

my cell has a memory card I just pull that out and the pics are on that. I am not going to pay to use my camera on my phone.
No uploading pics through my cell, ever!!
Not just for security, it costs way too much

Always but always use direct line technology to move pics (I heard bluetooth can be intercepted in public places)

Hi

Come on guys, someone here has gotta work in the phone industry, Is it a risk??

I Would like to know if photos carry any incriminating data with them, even if they are transferred to the pc via a cable.

Someone once told me that the photos carry a unique signiture related to the phone, i Know its probably a load of S**t but can anyone who works in this industry confirm the risks of camera phones.

Thanks

sending a picture of a grow isn't illegal, they can't prove its you so they won't bust you just for that. Still not a good idea though.

Most digital cameras will include extra data called EXIF data. It contains a bunch of information on the camera manufacturer, model, shooting modes (focus, scenes, exposure, white balance, f-stop etc), time and date etc - some will even include a camera serial number.

edit: I know for certain my Sony Ericsson K800i phone includes EXIF data in its images, not sure if this applies to all mobile phone cameras however.

When you upload a photo containing this data it is stripped from the image by ICMag, this has been confirmed by oldpink I believe. If you're not convinced, you can strip the data yourself using various programs before you upload it.

I would say uploading incriminating pictures to your mobile phone providers service is a very bad idea - they know what phone it came from and when, you're giving them a lot to work with if you upload to their servers.

Its completely unnecessary to do so, get a data cable for your phone or if it has bluetooth you can buy a bluetooth adaptor for your desktop/laptop pc and send/receive pictures, music, videos etc to and from the PC/phone with that setup. Some laptops will even have IRDA ports which you can use to send stuff back and forward to/from the phone via infrared.

bluetooth is not "Secure" if some one is within range they can intercept all u send.

As far as the eXif Info as mentioned Most (90%) dig cameras and Mobile phones Store there serial, ESN or SIM ID (if installed)
this has been done for a number of years
in short just about any dig photo can be traced back to the Camera...
one mobile phone that had gps would tag the location to the pic..cant remember wich one at the moment but it might be a few by now..

its the same on 100% of CD and DVD burners they Write the Serial number on the Disc.. (thats for piracy reasons, or at least was)

I dont believe the pictures are being displayed as such. I am sure there are several servers processing huge amounts of data every second. And to open every pic would be a waste of resources and just completely unneccessary. I just dont believe someones going to peek in the server room and see random shots. Server banks usually dont have a monitor for each box anyway. Can they randomly retrieve some data and open it? possibly

I also agree sending pics via cell is a very bad idea as who knows how long the data stays on the server. In Comcasts handbook they state that all emails once deleted by the user are gone and unretrievable. who knows about cell phone pics?

My Blackberry doesn't have a camera, but I know when my daughter takes pix on her phone she simply plugs a USB cable from the phone to the PC to transfer them.

go to the High Times news site and read about FISA wiretaps. They have set prices the govt. and LE pay to extract information.Something like 1G to make the connection and $100 for additional snippets afterward.Scary thing is that there is even a market for this.Read the article. Also for you conspiracy theorists out there.Go to Youtube if you have an account and type the keywards "is your cell phone bugged?"...after watching that i dont even wanna carry a phone anymore.I tried cutting and pasting.Just kept telling me i had to many urls.so if you wanna know go see.

I work on servers. I can tell you more then you would want to know. I will just say that anything you put over a public network is tracable. Do companies do it, none that I have worked for. One server I work on pushes cell phone traffic into another server. You could capture the information if you wanted to. The company has never told me to capture anything. But I am just a drone programmer. If the higher ups wanted data, they could get it. But it costs $$$. No company I have worked for would spend any $$ to track down data. And cannabis would be so low on the list. Movies and concerts would be more $$$ and we know cell phones are used for that all the time. My two cents

yeah its all irretrievable, "so they say."

IMO there is too much leverage that has been given ever since the terrorist activity has increased. from what i have seen, from the world news, DEA activity and the like, "they" will get what "they" need however "they" can get it when "they" want what "they" want from/about you.

Here's something I agree with. I used my sister's phone to take and send a few pictures, and about a week later, my mom busted me. I gave her my lights, and cleaned out the grow room. I'm not saying they're connected, just that the minute I post a pic, the heat turns on. You guys in those 12 medical states may be safer, but the rest of the country still has to use extreme caution.
