Stoner

It seems to me like the term "stoner" is more a recent term than the older terms like "pot-head" or "hemp-head" or whatever. All meant to be derogatory. The ambiguous term "burn-out" always seemed to me to be more like describing an overall drug abuser or as having a psychiatric problem than just a "pot head", but was sometimes used to describe a cannabis user.

But frankly, I'm just tired of all the negativity and labels that have been put on us cannabis users, so therefor I've decided that whenever I hear the term "stoner" I'll think of that as a flattering, positive term, as in one who throws stones at bullshit, thinking of the word as an action verb. This, especially is in light of all the bullshit cannabis users have to deal with day-in and day-out, and also that particular understanding usually is only really made clear to you upon getting "high" for the first time.

So anyway, I AM A PROUD STONER. PLEASE call me that. :tumbleweed: :tiphat:

I guess, in my case the term "stoner" could be construed more as "one who is full of shit". Puff, puff, pass.

In a similar vein...it's very common to hear somebody say, "what the hell are they smoking," obviously referring to weed, and it's always a negative that suggests that being high makes one stupid. This couldn't be further from the truth, especially when compared to being buzzed on other substances, especially alcohol. I wish people would start saying, "what the hell have they been drinking" instead.

But seriously, I agree, the terms are derogatory. I particularly hate the "what the hell are you smoking" and "put down the pipe" comments.

It's just an expression. I've been getting high for 17 years now. Indica, sativa, hybrid, whatever, it all makes me a little stupider while I'm under the influence. It's only a temporary effect.

Never mind what they think or say man, I personally couldn't care less!

Most of them are hopelessly mislead and misinformed, infact i feel sorry for them missing out on this wounderful herb due to the fear of health issues while they eat & drink stuff that will kill them in the long run. Funny ain't it.

But i must say, like everything else there are good & bad "stoners"

I think the term Pot Head or Stoner are propaganda tools.

Billy, you don't want to end up a pot head do you?

Dopers did it

The thing is, if you want people to think your way you demonize those that are against you. This sort of thing is used for lots of things, but we are all cannabis supporters so we are sensitive to it.

In my country color matters. If you are dark they call you el negro and that is just the way it is. And the person you call that to never fusses about it. That is just the way it is, but the sad thing is the darker people never get to work in banks or administrative jobs. I always felt bad about this, as I was born of privilege and I did nothing to deserve it.

And when it comes to stoners, I do know people that do nothing but smoke weed, watch TV and never get anything done. I feel it is best to use cannabis the way you would use alcohol. Giving in to vice of any kind is a bit lame to me. But in the end, who really knows what is right or wrong.

In the 70s, they called us freaks. I never minded.

Don't mind being called a stoner either.

What I hate most of all is being called "normal".

Withdrawing $500 from the ATM at 2 in the morning? You might be smoking crack. Breaking into your neighbor's house to steal his flat screen? You might be smoking crack. Go to the grocery store to buy bread, come home with 15 items, and realize you forgot the bread? You might be smoking White Rhino.

I don't see anything wrong with "stoner" or "pothead", by the way. I've been a pothead and a stoner for a long time. I just don't stay high 24/7. I have other interests in life too.
