Still Stretching - will it ever stop?

I am 18 days into flowering now, and one plant continues to stretch like crazy (rest are slowing down). Each morning I discover it has grown 1 to 2+ inches during the night. It's 37" today (34.5" yesterday). I am really wishing that I had topped it, but it's obviously too late for that now.

I am running out of vertical space. What can I do at this stage to tame it?

You could try the Soma method of supercropping.

Another one of my tricks is stem bending, a technique where you roll the stem inbetween your fingers while squeezing fairly hard, but not hard enough to break the stem, then slowly bend the stem over. The stem forms a hard elbow where it was bent and the top straightens itself out so that it can continue pointing at the Sun (grow light ).
That is from Soma website.... :joint: check it out has some magazine articles written on supercropping.. search soma seeds in google...

Good luck.

Thanks. Supercropping scares me a bit, but it might be worth a try. I will take some before and after pics.

I'm a growing a donated mystery mix. I think the 2 tall sativas are Pure Power Plants. One of my smaller plants might be from Soma genes (Green Godess).

If anyone thinks I shouldn't supercrop at this stage - please let me know ASAP. Otherwise I will try supercropping today.

You dont have to crop it or rip off the tip just get a piece of string and a thumbtact tie the string at the high end of the plant the tip, under a set of leaves tie the string around the stem not too tightly and then just pull the main cola down by pulling on the string and then just put the tact into the wall where you will tie the other end of the string to. It has to be some thick nylon string or something dont go using sowing string it will cut like a knife. Make sense? tie them down so they dont burn and so you dont have to raise light. You might even be able to lower it a bit after you tie them down.
Best of Luck

had the same problem with my current grow

one of my plants wouldnt stop stretching... ran out of vertical room... so i took some string tacked it to the wall... then to the plant and bent it down enough that it was safe from the light

simple, easy, effective, and safe... i too was scared of super cropping

I pinch the top of the flower when it starts stretching. Not like pinch it off, just pinch it inbetween your fingers tightly then let go. This should slow down that stretching a lot.

Supercropping is such a bad word, scares the hell out of people.lol What Med&Dev have said is great advice in fact I would say they are one in the same, meaning, You gentley squeeze the stem where you want, then bend and tie either with stake or string as said before. From now on you know to always top plants nomatter strain when dealing a with cab. or low ceilings. Good luck and sqeeze&bend easy.

I like this idea of tacking a low point going up to plant tip wraping the string around the main stem and then going back down to a lower tacking position. Go as low as u can with out break stem. Thats how I worked my PPP.

Good luck let us know how it works out! ok? :listen2: :smoker:

I think he knew what strains were in there, just not which ones he would get from picking a few seeds from his baggie. :chin:
