Well guys.. I am still looking for a hotel.. so the event is at Dam Square? I have been looking at Hotels.nl and have found 3 hotels that fit me needs / price. Can anyone let me know if they are close to the event.. only one says close to dam square.. the other say close to the dam.. whatever that is? Here are the hotels:

1. Victoria Hotel - close to damrak close to dam square?
2. Hotel Alanta - close to amstel
3. Falcon Plaza Centre - close to Muiderstraat

Which hotel would be the best? Or are there any other hotels that you guys can reccomend thats close to the event. Im staying from the 15th - 23rd 2 people.. double room.. thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks

Hey supra the Atlanta is on the Rembrantplien a happenen spot of town. It is not that long of a walk to the shop. I have stay in hotels in this area and not been disapointed. I have however never stayed at thE Atlanta. You may also want to check the City Hotal its on the rembrant square I have enjoyed my stay at there hotel. They also have apartments for rent, top floor being an apartment for two people.

I didi pretty extensive researc on hotels in the area and chose the Victoria due to it's centralized location, apparent quality, and amenities. I'm coming with my significant other so there is a trade off of money spent versus her feeling safe. Her not feeling safe=me being nagged.

you know there will be at least one more hippy couple at the Victoria. peace

The Victoria's a SHITHOLE with an rude staff and rooms that smell like dirty ashtrays,I stayed there a couple of years ago.
Four stars my arse, sneering teutonic doormen & concierge services that SUCK....couldn't even tell me that the central post office was around the corner and two blocks down....
However,if you're a junke or a crackhead,it IS a great place to hang out in frot of and bother tourists from 10pm-4am.
In short,I'd PASS on The Vic.

My .02

**If I was coming this year (I'm not) I'd likely go with The American Hotel.

Rezdog,

I'm guessing you have stayed there befor (the Victoria)? Where do you recomend over the victoria that is still central to everything and not a shithole? All the reviews I read on it saaid it was nice but I'll take your word for it if you've stayed there. Crack-heads outside the front doors? I most likely would not be able to handle that scene on strong mushies (which I will definietly be utilizing while in the area).

Where do you recommend?

EDIT*Nevermind, I didn't see you recomendation at the bottom.

Well I dont have Rezdog's money and so perhaps am less choosy about these things, but I have stayed at the Victoria Hotel, right opposite central station so not too far to carry any luggage, and accross the road from one edge of the red light district.
I liked the place, found the staff polite, but then I didnt ask them for anthing other than the room, although I did change that to a smoking room, which they did with no bother, it was their mistake in the first place. Clean and comfortable, and not a patch of the price of the grand kran....sky, check you pockets and see how much cash you want to spend, personally on my next trip to the dam I'll be staying at the Victoria again.

I'll be missing out again this year but for those of you on the East Coast I found a round trip air with 4 nights package for $680.00 per person while wishing my car wasn't on deaths door, the info is at (according to the NY Times) www.europeandestinations.com
Good luck to all the growers and to everyone else, have a great time and don't forget to stop and see Gypsy and the gang......

Krasnapolsky rocks. I always find myself staring when I'm at the Dam. It has style and class and a huge budget!! But it might not be everybody's cup of tea. I worked at a 5 star hotel during college and they come with a certain stiffness that you will not find in any guy's pants..so luxury is nice but atmosphere is priceless. The crowd and people who work there might not be so open minded and fun as to a smaller lesser star quality hotel simply because they must live up to a strict star protocol. I had to and it just wasn't me!! Smaller hotels have the intimacy and relax (weed) atmo!! This is my experience but think about it!! Either way have fun and just don't give a shit!! I didn't so I quit and found a place where I could let my hair loose!!

I stayed at the Best Western Eden over Christmas a couple years back, it's got some great party spots out back, excellent place for the significant others, it's a little walk to the "Red Light District" but for some reason you never get tired walking around Amsterdam, it's just that beautiful....

If you're still looking for a place for the 420, try the Rho Hotel... it's just off the Dam Square. Last year we put Eddy Lepp up there and he likes it... they have an elevator and prices are reasonable, include breakfast and so forth. It's CLEAN. And they tolerate smokers unlike the Krasnapolsky, where I had the unfortunate experience of being asked to leave the property when visiting friends in a room there... we lit up a fattie in a 'smoking' room and within three minutes the security guard was banging on the door and telling us all to leave... my friend who rented the room got tossed out as well.

Amsterdam is a great place, I lived there for eight years, but hotels are iffy, and mostly not very clean unless you spend lots of money.

But the deal is to get out and have fun, not sit around your hotel room. There is soooo much fun to be had in Amsterdam... the IC420 Grow Cup, 400 coffeeshops, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Cannabis College, to mention a few things...

I'll see you there!!!

Peace,
~Chris/Payaso :friends:

well hello Chris, I see I have a new Mentor colleague  Congrats! Will I have the pleasure of meeting you at 420? I do hope so....Farmer John is planning on getting together the Mentors for a lunch or dinner reunion for those attending (if he hasn't gotten so stoned in the meantime that he's fogotten ). It would be great if we could count you in!
