I am having some issues with my garden but this girl in particular has yellowing leaves, even the flower leaves, and they are all droopy. I am also having these spots show up on some of the leaves mostly cola leaves between the viens it looks like little spots or burn. The Petoles are purple but I thought that happened during flower naturally. My PH is 6 before newts. I am using well water thats comes out at 35ppm and I am running the lucas formula with GH 3 part. I am in 3 gal pots with a month veg in FFOF. I am at the start of week 7 with Superskunk (8 week strain says breeder) I am trying to understand the stages of bud development I have been told that the buds swell alot in there last week or two. Does that mean they grow more Calyxes or do they just swell?

You are not doing that bad there buddy. Many strains will yellow during flower, sometimes from their genetics and mostly because flowering ferts decrease the nitrogen available to the plant. However you might have some nutrient lockup. One safe and easy way to correct a lot of bad nutrient crap is to leech the containers well. Like pour through about 1/2-1 gallon of fresh (pH corrected) plain water. It will rinse out a lot of build-up and help the plants finish more healthy. Leech the containers, give them a couple of days to drink up what you wetted them with, then go back on your regular nute mix. Its a rather soft and gentle way to correct nutrient and pH problems without messing up the plant. Also, you can test the pH of the solution you are using - than also pH check the run off from the container and see if there's any change to worry over.

In my humble opinion (others will differ) you can't put too much faith in some breeders estimation of finish times. I have grown strains that say you need 10 week flower but had them completely finished in 7 weeks. Others that claimed 7-8 week finishes needed 10-12 weeks to actually be what they can be. As you gain experience with any particular strain you will develop a sense of when they are done. Some people go by trichome color and consistency, some by the calendar. I go by 'zen' of when the plant seems to be finished. Not very scientific but works well for me (smile).

Hope something in that helps Nickel, you have some good smoke coming your way regardless!

Start of week 7 which means 6 weeks done or around 42 days? You've got about 3 more weeks of flowering then for superskunk--good to harvest after around 63 days of flowering. Don't fight the leaf drop too much at this point. Boost nitrogen a little for a week then feed as usual with bloom fertilizer letting the fan leaves gradually yellow and drop. Over the next 3 weeks more calyxes will form and the buds will get much fuller. Be patient and wait for those buds to swell.

I'm in the same boat as you right now, plants looks almost identical except I'm in 20 gal. rubbermaids. My girls just started shaping up nicely keeping my same feeding schedule so just be patient, or give some extra N if you want.

They will swell and the hairs will start to change color and then they will retract into the buds. Thats when you want to make sure your crystals are nice and cloudy, or give them more time to amber if you like.
Your plants look like they have atleast 3 weeks left.
I still think you had a lockout issue

Do you add cal mag to your water? You shouldnt have to using well water but a magnesium deficiency will cause probs with your plants ability to take up nitrogen...the mag acts as a facilitator for the nitro absorption. I would try some cal mag and make sure your still giving them a bit of nitro in your nutes.

swell? is when the calyx's themselves swell up... they will almost look as if they contain seeds on some strains... that is what's referred to as swell usually. though some will also use that term to describe the stage of growth about 2/3 the way through flowering when the majority of "meat" gets put on and the buds become as chunky as they are going to get... which looks to have just ended on your plant. but again in the context of floral maturity (when it is ripe)... it is the individual calyx's that "swell!"

The yellowing... isn't all that bad... it looks like what we call a "fade" which is normal and a good thing... really, though your fade is a little further progressed than ideal for how much longer you have left on flowering... combined with the brown spots... which to me looks similar to a Calcium deficiency and the drooping leaves...

would lead me to ask if you may have been overwatering... as I highly doubt you have lockout.

what to do???
All and all your stuff doesn't look that bad... trying to fix it now may end up making it worse... try letting the container dry out a little bit more in between waterings and maybe supplement once or twice with some cal mag and give a couple more feedings at normal strength until you begin watering with straight water in a week or so for the final 10 - 14 days... I wouldn't try any more than that... and just try to remember this for next run.

hope that helps some...
Peace,
Infi

When they are nutrient deficient do I feed them stronger than normal. or normal feeds one after another or still just feed, water, feed,water...?

do you water every day... every other day... or every 3 days?

I would say then, do 2 to maybe 3 normal strength feedings the next 2 -3 waterings... then begin to water with just pure water... also most plants like to start to drink a little less around this time... so It's usually a good idea to give slightly smaller waterings
