Stems solid purple on clones trying to root?

A couple clones in bubble cloner are starting to get roots, and the stems are solid purple. Just 2 of 8, but they look good other than that and have roots starting. Anyone else have this happen to them?

slowandeasy - I've had purple plants, either due to genetics or cold air. Without all the necessary information, all I can do is guess your cloning room is too cold.

If you want to fill out mynamestich's form and post some photos, we could give you more accurate information/diagnosis.

It was cool a couple days, but around 75 all the time. Added a heating pad to keep temps up after a couple days of cold weather. 5 of 8 are rooted now, 3 are starting to droop and yellow. Guess will let them go.

Slowandeasy,
this happens to me every time i use the bubble cloner. It may be the genetics but as soon as i have decent root system and plant them in pro-mix, they always green rite up(usually within a wk.)

you don't want to let them die now...so if they get so purple stem/yellow leaves before they root, give them a pinch of nitrogen food in the bub so they still grow green and root. change the water frequently as to avoid nasties in the bub.

why is everybody concerned about purple stems? I saw many plants with purple hues along their stems, and none of the growers were the least concerned by it. Not to mention all plants look rather healthy

purple stems unless genetic is an early warning sign that the plants are running out of nutrients P and or K or the roots are too cold.

so most people take note when the stems start turning purple.

I am having this same problem and its from cold roots. Would it be better to leave them alone? Some have space to cut the purple part off, would this be an idea?
